**Job Summary**
A Boat Engine Checker is responsible for inspecting, testing, and ensuring the proper functioning of boat engines and related systems.
As a Boat Engine Checker, you will play a critical role in maintaining the safety and performance of boats.
**Responsibilities**:
Engine Inspection
- Perform visual inspections of boat engines and associated components to identify signs of wear, damage, or malfunction.
- Check for fluid leaks, loose connections, and corrosion.
- Examine engine belts, hoses, and filters for wear and tear.
Testing and Diagnosis
- Conduct diagnostic tests using specialized equipment to assess engine performance.
- Identify and diagnose engine issues, including mechanical, electrical, or fuel system problems.
- Record and document test results and findings.
Maintenance and Repairs
- Perform routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, filter replacements, and spark plug inspections.
- Make minor repairs to engines and related systems, if required.
- Coordinate with senior mechanics or engineers (outsource) for major repairs or overhauls.
Safety Compliance
- Ensure that boats meet safety and environmental regulations and standards.
- Address safety concerns related to engine components or fuel systems.
- Recommend and implement safety improvements or upgrades.
Documentation
- Maintain detailed records of inspections, maintenance, and repair work.
- Generate reports on the condition of boat engines and systems.
- Keep inventory of spare parts and supplies.
Communication
- Communicate findings and recommendations to the superior.
- Collaborate with other boat personnel, including boat captains and crews.
Quality Control
- Ensure that all engine maintenance and repair work meet quality standards.
- Conduct post-repair tests to verify that issues have been resolved.
**Job Requirements**
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical education or marine mechanic certification is a plus.
- Proven experience in boat engine inspection, maintenance, and repair.
- Knowledge of various types of boat engines, including inboard, outboard, and sterndrive systems.
- Familiarity with boat electrical and fuel systems.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Good communication skills to interact with boat captain and crews.
- Knowledge of safety and environmental regulations related to marine operations.
**Salary**: RM2,500.00 - RM3,300.00 per month
