**Job description**:
Each houseparent is supported by three house tutors who each performs 27% of the duties in the house. Some of these tutors are residential, living in the boarding houses, while others are visiting tutors, who return home after their duty is complete. Each boarding house also has a resident matron, who manages the cleaning staff and assists with a range of jobs, including laundry and medical issues. Houseparents' time is well protected and they receive a one-third reduction in teaching load and are expected to perform 19% of the termly duties for the house. With this time, houseparents are expected to lead the day-to-day management of the house and the students and staff within it.

House events are a huge part of life at KTJ and students buy into these events wholeheartedly. We have capable and dedicated student leaders, with each house having Upper Sixth students holding positions of leadership - House Captain, House Vice Captains and House Prefects. While these students offer a great deal of support to the house staff, part of the role of the houseparent is to educate and guide these students as they embark on the early stages of their leadership journey. House events cover a wide range of choices including sporting, singing, drama, quizzes and social events.

We offer a highly competitive remuneration package:

- Houseparents receive 14 pay periods each year, with double pay being issued in both July and November
- During term time, the Houseparent and their family may take all of their meals in the school dining hall.
