**Job Overview**:
We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Genetic Counselor to join our team. The Genetic Counselor will play a vital role in providing genetic counselling services to patients, assessing their risks for inherited conditions, and guiding them through the process of genetic testing and its implications.

**Responsibilities**:

- Provide genetic counselling to patients and families regarding genetic risks, inheritance patterns, and available testing options.
- Assess patient’s medical history, family history, and genetic test results to determine their risk for inherited conditions.
- Ability to multitask and be available during off days and emergencies, as needed, to provide genetic counselling services and support to patients and families.
- Interpret genetic test results accurately and communicate findings effectively to patients, ensuring they understand the implications and potential outcomes.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers, including physicians, geneticists, and other specialists, to develop comprehensive management plans for patients with genetic conditions.
- Offer emotional support and guidance to patients and families facing genetic diagnoses, assisting them in coping with the psychological and emotional aspects of genetic testing and healthcare decisions.
- Stay updated on advancements in genetics, genomics, and genetic testing technologies, and incorporate new knowledge into clinical practice.
- Participate in educational initiatives for healthcare professionals, patients, and the community to increase awareness of genetic risks and the importance of genetic counselling.

**Qualifications**:

- **Requirement of Master’s in Genetic Counselling**.
- _**Must be a citizen/resident of Malaysia **_
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to convey complex genetic information clearly and compassionately.
- Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Commitment to upholding ethical standards and maintaining patient confidentiality.

**Preferred Qualifications**:

- Experience working as a Genetic Counselor in a clinical setting.
- Knowledge of specialty areas such as prenatal genetics, cancer genetics, or pediatric genetics.
- Proficiency in additional languages (Malay, Chinese etc).
