Engineman

Following maintenance strategies, procedures, work instruction and work methods prepared by the Chief Engineman.
- Diagnosing any vessel's engine related breakdown problem.
- Reporting to Chief Engineman to get the maintenance work done correctly.
- Assisting the Chief Engineman on planning and scheduling planned and unplanned work for the maintenance of equipment and vessel.
- Controlling and ensuring the maintenance tools, stores and equipment are in good condition.
- Carrying out quality inspections on the vessel's engine service and maintenance job.
- Controlling operation of diesel generators used to produce electrical power.
- Cleaning, adjusting, testing and performing other preventive maintenance on a dredger's main engines, diesel generators and other auxiliary machinery including steering engines, elevators, winches, pumps and associated valves.
- Repairing or replacing valves, pumps, heat exchangers, compressors, steam turbines and hydraulic or pneumatic control devices.
- Making entries in and analyzing machinery operating records and reports.
