Eal Classroom Teacher

The EAL Teacher is responsible for providing English language instruction and support to students who have English as an additional language. They will work with students from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds to help them develop their English language proficiency and succeed academically. The teacher will be required to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment, deliver effective lessons, and assess student progress. They must have a strong understanding of language acquisition principles and be able to adapt their teaching methods to meet the needs of individual students.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Provide English language instruction and support to students with diverse linguistic backgrounds, helping them develop their English language skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing
- Create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment that encourages students to actively engage in English language learning
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and other support staff to develop strategies for integrating English language instruction into the regular curriculum
- Design and deliver effective lessons that cater to the individual needs and proficiency levels of EAL students, employing a variety of teaching techniques and resources
- Assess and monitor student progress in English language proficiency, using appropriate assessment tools and providing timely feedback to students and parents
- Develop and implement individualised learning plans for students with specific language learning needs or challenges
- Work closely with parents and guardians to foster a strong home-school partnership, providing them with regular updates on their child's progress and offering strategies for supporting English language development at home
- Stay informed about current research, trends, and best practices in EAL instruction, and participate in professional development activities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge
- Participate in team meetings, collaborative planning sessions, and school-wide initiatives related to language instruction and support
- Utilise technology and educational resources effectively to enhance English language learning experiences

**Qualifications**:

- Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field
- Teaching certification or license
- Fluency in English
- Experience teaching English language learners, preferably in an international school or multicultural setting
- Knowledge of English language acquisition principles and strategies
- Familiarity with language assessment tools and techniques
- Strong understanding of cultural sensitivity and ability to work with students from diverse backgrounds
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with students, parents, and colleagues
- Strong organisational and time-management skills to effectively plan and deliver instruction for multiple students with varying needs

Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, staff members, and parents.
