**Job description**

Under the direct supervision of the Head of Secretariat, the Communications Associate (CA) will work closely with the UN RCO Head of Office and Communications and Advocacy Officer and provide overall support to the Fund on communications and resource mobilisation efforts as detailed out in the scope of work. The CA will have overall reporting to the UN RCO and indirectly to the Steering Committee (SC) of the Fund.

This CA will undertake due diligence for potential applicants during each Call for Proposals cycle. This involves a comprehensive search for relevant news and social media content related to potential applicants.

Furthermore, the CA role requires active engagement with the public and stakeholders through various social media channels. This involves not only promoting the Fund and generating interest but also monitoring and keeping the Fund Secretariat informed of relevant news, feedback and public perception pertaining to the Fund and projects funded by the Fund.

**Scope of Work**
- Develop an advocacy and communications strategy for the Trust Fund to communicate and promote the Trust Fund’s call(s) for proposals, objectives and success to donors, relevant stakeholders, and the public.
- To manage the Malaysia-UN SDG Trust Fund brand and implement quality management of the Trust Fund.
- To plan and execute various events for the Malaysia-UN SDG Trust Fund.
- To work closely with recipients of the Trust Fund in developing stories and communication materials on the results and impact of their projects as well as promotional materials and reports relating to the Trust Fund.
- To monitor and manage the public relations of the Fund and monitor the development and news of the Fund stakeholders and priority areas.
- Research, identify and engage with potential partners, develop opportunities for strategic partnerships for the Trust Fund and manage relationships with existing partners.
- To provide additional support to colleagues as needed.

- Ability to communicate in a clear, concise and unambiguous manner both through written and verbal communication, to tailor messages and choose communication methods depending on the audience
- Ability to manage communications internally and externally, through media, social media and other appropriate channels

Project Management:

- Ability to plan, organize, prioritize and control resources, procedures and protocols to achieve specific goals

Digital & Innovation - Social Media:

- Knowledge of social media and ability to advise the use of social media for development outcomes

Digital and Innovation - Story telling:

- Ability to empathize with people’s perceptions, motivations, feelings and mental modes and craft narratives to build an emotive argument for change accordingly
- Ability to present data, insights or information in compelling ways to mobilise resources, talent or action.
- Ability to choose media and channels that is fit for purpose to reach specific target audiences

Monitoring:

- Ability to provide managers and key stakeholders with regular feedback on the consistency or discrepancy between planned and actual activities and programme performance and results

**Requirement**
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations or any other relevant field.
- Minimum three (3) years with a bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or other relevant areas.
- Fluency in English and Bahasa Malaysia written and spoken
- Strong analytical and communication skills both written and verbal, excellent report writing and organizational skills.
- Required experience and competencies in analytical writing.
- Familiarity with Adobe creative cloud or other software tools in designing and creating data visualization, infographics, presentations, and reports is desirable.
- Previous experience working with the private sector, civil society, the UN or international development partners is desirable.
- Previous experience working with government counterparts is desirable.
- Working experience with diverse and multicultural teams is desirable
- Demonstrated expertise in managing communications sites using Microsoft SharePoint Online, Web Authoring tools or other online platforms is desirable.
- Experience in strategic communications and developing communication strategies is desirable
- Additional certification in communications
