Marine Weather Forecaster

Solves complex problems where precedent may not exist by:

- 1) performing complex metocean forecasting work around the process of acquiring, analysing and interpreting modelled and observational data in order to provide accurate and customised metocean forecasting services to clients,

2) providing weather related planning advice for offshore marine operations,

3) developing deliverables to clients by putting interpreted data into context of the impact on marine operations,

4) proposing improvements of research methods and quality systems,

5) contributing to acquisitions activities,

6) taking on tasks that have been escalated by more junior forecasters and,

7) tracking ongoing commercial enquires to the 'bench' to provide invoicing information and interfaces with colleagues to offer integrated services, additional opportunities for observations or customised modelling.

Often leads/coordinates the work of a small team and/or deputises the manager, but people management is not a focus.

Requires a university degree and in-depth knowledge and experience of the organisation, processes and customers.
