Job Summary

A Kitchen Helper assists in the preparation and serving of food, maintains cleanliness and organization in the kitchen, and supports the culinary team with various tasks as needed.

Key Responsibilities
- **Food Preparation**: Assist with basic food prep tasks such as washing, peeling, cutting vegetables, and preparing ingredients for cooking.
- **Cooking Assistance**: Support chefs and cooks by performing simple cooking tasks, fetching ingredients, and monitoring food items to prevent overcooking or burning.
- **Cleaning Duties**: Ensure that all kitchen surfaces, utensils, and equipment are clean and sanitized. This includes washing dishes, pots, pans, and other kitchen tools.
- **Stock Management**: Receive and store deliveries, ensure proper stock rotation, and manage inventory levels to prevent shortages.
- **Waste Management**: Dispose of kitchen waste appropriately, maintain recycling protocols, and ensure garbage bins are regularly emptied.
- **Health and Safety Compliance**: Adhere to health and safety regulations, including proper food handling, storage, and sanitation practices.
- **Organization**: Keep the kitchen organized by properly storing ingredients, equipment, and utensils.
- **Miscellaneous Tasks**: Perform any other duties as required by the kitchen staff, which may include setting up and breaking down workstations, and helping with plating and serving food.

Qualifications and Skills
- **Experience**: Prior experience in a kitchen or food service environment is advantageous but not always required.
- **Skills**: Basic knowledge of kitchen tools and equipment, ability to follow instructions, good organizational skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- **Physical Stamina**: Ability to stand for long periods, lift heavy objects, and perform tasks that require physical effort.
- **Team Player**: Strong communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.
- **Attention to Detail**: High level of attention to cleanliness and detail to ensure the quality and safety of food.
