**Overview**:
Responsible for developing, implementing, and managing comprehensive environmental monitoring programmes to ensure the protection of the surrounding environment in compliance with regulations and industry standards including the protection of employees and contractors.

This position requires a strategic thinker with strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of regulations, with the ability to advise and collaborate with various departments to create a culture of environmental safety excellence.

General job scope:

- Zero environmental pollution accidents or major regulatory non-compliance.
- Maintain effective environmental stewardship and ensure compliance with all applicable environmental laws, regulations and standards stipulated in the jurisdiction.
- Manage the legal requirements for waste gas, waste liquid, wastewater, solid waste, perimeter noise and the protection of soil and groundwater.
- Complete periodic environmental monitoring.
- To ensure normal operation of environmental protection facilities.

**Responsibilities**:

- Be proficient in environmental protection laws and regulations, fully implement the company's environmental protection plans and measures, and be fully responsible for the company's related environmental protection affairs.
- Develop and implement management systems, integrated work processes and procedures to ensure compliance with environmental regulations, approval conditions and standards, including setting up of relevant performance indicators.
- Responsible for assuring the implementation of relevant environmental laws and regulations. Supervise and inspect the implementation performance.
- Participate in the review of the company's pollution control facilities designs and introduce relevant environmental requirements in new projects and participate to conduct construction acceptance. At the same time, ensure that environmental protection facilities and the main project are designed, constructed, and operated optimally.
- Promote the environmental protection concept and knowledge in the company. Communicate environmental policies and practices to employees, fostering a culture of environmental responsibility.
- Organize environmental protection training and campaigns periodically to improve environmental protection awareness among employees.
- Responsible for the management of the environmental monitoring of emissions, waste gas, wastewater, noise, soil, and groundwater. Communicate the monitoring results to relevant departments.
- Responsible for the management of collection, classification, storage, transfer, and disposal of hazardous solid waste and general solid waste according to applicable laws and regulations.
- Inspect and supervise the operation of the environmental facilities to ensure that the facilities are functioning as intended and meet regulatory standards.
- Establish relevant emergency response plans for environment-related incidents and collaborate with relevant personnel to organise the environmental emergency drills periodically.
- Collaborate with internal teams, government agencies, and community stakeholders to build positive relationships and address environmental concerns.
- Receive and engage Department of Environment officials and other third parties for environmental inspections.
- Complete other temporary tasks assigned by the company.

**Job Requirements**:

- Possess at least a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science/ Engineering or any relevant fields in sciences/engineering.
- At least 10 years of experience in a related role, with minimum of 3 years supervisory experience, preferably in crude/palm oil refinery or chemical manufacturing facility.
- Proficient in Malaysian environmental regulations and standards with proven track record in managing environment-related risks in crude/palm oil refinery or chemical manufacturing facility. Demonstrated experience in managing waste gas emissions, wastewater, and solid waste.
- Experience in handling environment-related emergencies at the workplace will be advantageous.
- Familiar with crude/palm oil refining or chemical manufacturing processes, equipment, and technologies. Working experience in a facility with hydro-processing or bio-processing pre-treatment related units is desirable.
- Proficiency in ISO9001, ISO14001, ISO45001 and ISO14064 is an added advantage.
- Legal qualification/certification from DOE is preferable.

**Salary**: RM12,000.00 - RM20,000.00 per month
