Gardener

**The Role**

**Reporting to: Deputy Bursar (Onsite)**

**Key Responsibilities**

**Gardening**
- Designing, installing, and maintaining seasonal plants, trees, and green spaces.
- Performing regular tasks such as mowing, trimming, fertilizing, mulching, edging, and weeding to ensure the health and beauty of gardens.
- Monitoring the health of all plants, identifying and addressing issues such as pests or diseases promptly.
- Keeping gardens and green spaces clear of debris and litter to enhance their aesthetic appeal and safety.

**Stock Management**
- Providing care and maintenance for livestock, including feeding, watering, and ensuring appropriate living conditions.
- Managing breeding programs and assisting with birthing or hatching processes as needed.
- Ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards for animal welfare and hygiene.

**General Maintenance**
- Conducting regular inspections of garden and livestock facilities to identify and address any maintenance needs.
- Performing minor repairs and upkeep tasks related to garden structures, fencing, animal enclosures, and equipment.
- Safely operating and maintaining gardening tools, machinery, and other equipment.
- Keeping accurate records of gardening activities, stock inventory, and relevant data for reporting purposes.

**Building Relationships**
- Establish and sustain friendly relationships with pertinent government agencies, including agricultural departments and environmental authorities.
- Foster positive connections with nearby communities, engaging in outreach activities and addressing any concerns or inquiries related to gardening or livestock management.

**Requirements and Skills**
- Previous experience as a Gardener and familiarity with landscaping design principles.
- Extensive knowledge of regional plant life, landscaping techniques, and livestock care.
- Familiarity with local pests and effective methods for eliminating them without harming plants or animals.
- Knowledge of both synthetic and natural fertilizers, along with state health and safety regulations for landscaping and livestock care.
- Physical fitness and the ability to lift heavy objects, remain on feet for extended periods, and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Passion for the outdoors, plant life, and animal welfare.
- Minimum requirement of Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) or equivalent.
- Able to write and verbal communication skills in English.

**Terms and Conditions**

The remuneration package includes a competitive salary, working term time plus public holidays, and health insurance for you and your eligible dependent children and spouse after successful completion of a qualifying period of employment. This position is full time. Normal working hours are 8.00am to 5.00pm Monday to Friday.
