**Job Overview**:
A Sushi Bar Helper is a vital member of the culinary team in a sushi restaurant or Japanese dining establishment. This role involves assisting sushi chefs in various tasks related to sushi preparation, maintaining cleanliness and organization within the sushi bar area, and ensuring the smooth operation of the sushi bar.

**Responsibilities**:
**Ingredient Preparation**: Assist in washing, peeling, and cutting vegetables, as well as preparing seafood and other ingredients for sushi dishes.

**Sushi Assembly**: Help sushi chefs in assembling various types of sushi rolls, nigiri, sashimi, and other sushi creations according to established recipes and presentation standards.

**Rice Preparation**: Assist in cooking and seasoning sushi rice, ensuring it is of the appropriate texture and flavor for sushi dishes.

**Fish Handling**: Handle and prepare fish and seafood safely, following proper food safety and handling guidelines to maintain freshness and prevent cross-contamination.

**Sushi Bar Maintenance**: Keep the sushi bar area clean, sanitized, and organized. Wipe down surfaces, clean utensils, and maintain a visually appealing presentation of the sushi bar.

**Dishwashing**: Clean and sanitize sushi utensils, cutting boards, and other equipment after use. Ensure that dishes are properly cleaned and ready for use.

**Ingredient Stocking**: Monitor ingredient levels and inform the sushi chefs when supplies are running low. Assist in receiving and storing deliveries.

**Garnishing**: Assist in garnishing sushi dishes with appropriate condiments, sauces, and edible decorations to enhance their presentation.

**Customer Interaction**: Interact with customers seated at the sushi bar, taking their orders and relaying special requests to the sushi chefs.

**Assistance to Sushi Chefs**: Support sushi chefs by fetching ingredients, passing utensils, and helping with tasks that facilitate the efficient production of sushi dishes.

**Compliance**: Adhere to food safety and hygiene regulations, including wearing appropriate protective gear and following proper handwashing procedures.

**Team Collaboration**: Work closely with sushi chefs, other kitchen staff, and servers to ensure a seamless dining experience for customers.

**Qualifications**:

- Basic knowledge of sushi ingredients, preparation techniques, and presentation.
- Previous experience in a sushi restaurant or kitchen environment is beneficial but not always required.
- Familiarity with food safety and hygiene practices.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment.
- Strong communication skills and ability to take direction from sushi chefs.
- Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.
- Flexibility in working hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

We provide training for Sushi Bar Helpers to get familiarise with sushi preparation techniques, menu items, and safety protocols by Chef Fuji himself. This position can also serve as a stepping stone for those interested in eventually becoming sushi chefs.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Contract
Contract length: 12 months

**Salary**: RM1,800.00 - RM2,500.00 per month
