Staff Nurse

Overview of Job Role: To provide relevant services and support to the cancer patients that are treated at the ward. Responsibilities Major/Minor Registration - Room booking by phone Major Room-to-room patrol to ensure the patient's comfortable condition. Major Doing sponging. Major Take vital observations. Major Maintain the cleanliness of the ward. Major Provide medications and injections. Major Patrolling with the Doctor and doing the directed exchange and assist in certain procedures. Major Performing dressing including dressing for hickman's catheter, IJC and chemoport. Major Food ordering according to the patient's condition. Major Assist the Medical Officer in carrying out procedures in the ward Major Provide chemotherapy treatment either through IV infusion or chemoport. Major Prepare for stem cell transplantation or brachytherapy Major Make HLA typing procedure to be sent to IMR by the laboratory. Major Perform procedures such as IV drip, blood transfusion, dressing and others. Major Observe the patient during harvesting or when the patient is in treatment palliative requiring painkillers. Major Indent floor stock medicines and IV drip. Major Check CSSD stock and monitor CSSD tools exchange management. Major Manage patient admission and discharge. Major Manage patient delivery to the operating room, x-ray, radiotherapy and others. Major Record and calculate patient intake and output. Major Take specimens and determine the results obtained and notify medical officer immediately if there is an extraordinary decision. Major Write a 24-hour report and census. Major Submit patient report to the following shift staff. Major Check the emergency trolley of each shift to ensure medications and the tools are adequate, in good condition and safe to use. Major Responsible for counseling patients and their families. Major Responsible for giving educational talks to patients and their families. Major Take, send and track the patient's latest blood results. Major Assist the Head Nurse in guiding and teaching trainee nurses. Major Supervise infection control methods and isolation techniques practiced. Major Coordinate various references made by Medical Officers to other departments. Major Engage in research conducted from time to time. Minor Attend staff meetings and discussions. Minor Participate in the activities of the ward and the Institute of Cancer MAKNA-PPUKM. Minor Other duties directed in line with nursing positions or any other activity as directed by the HOD from time to time Minor
