**ROLE: ORACLE DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR**

**1) Job Purpose**
- Work under supervision of Head & Lead, Database to perform Database Administration as well as projects and initiatives in relation to the overall database management, database optimization and technology improvements for efficiency and database maintenance and housekeeping of IT services and processes with Application Team/DBMS Vendors to meet the needs of the business by implementing and maintaining standards, policies and rules for conducting business with service providers. Expansion of implementation responsibilities of these initiatives to cover regional needs to ensure service continuity and availability.

**2) Job Description**
- Oracle Database Management: Perform database administration, database optimisation and technology improvements for efficiency and database maintenance and housekeeping.
- Installing and Upgrading: Responsible for installing and upgrading the database and related tools. Examines new releases of systems and database software, understand the features offered and the stability of the release and recommend further action.
- System Setup and Database: Creation Responsible for setting up database, Instances in development, QA and production environment.
- Monitoring the Database, Health and Tuning Accordingly. Ensure the database is running with optimal performance. Ensure the database is properly configured with the correct amount of memory and set with proper configuration parameters.
- Proper Utilisation of Storage: Making sure the databases are correctly setup, monitoring space requirements and adding new storage when required.
- Backup and Recovery: Establishing standards and schedules for database backups and ensure recovery procedures are adhered.
- Troubleshoot and Problem resolution: Support and troubleshoot problems associated with database and resource allocation conflicts including problem resolution.
- Financial Management: Review financial documents. Ensures that projects are implemented with the approved budget and track the budget drawdown accordingly.
- Vendor/Stakeholder Management: Work with vendors to provide resolutions to client issues.

**Qualifications & Competencies**:
**Qualification**
- Minimum 5 years of Database Administration on MidRange/Wintel Databases.
- Knowledge on Mainframe Databases will be advantageous.
- Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline - Minimum of 5 years relevant experience in IT.
- Diploma in IT - Minimum of 7 years relevant experience in IT.
- Professional DBMS certification is advantageous.

**Competencies**
- Good knowledge on Oracle Database Administration Installation, upgrade, patches
- Database performance tuning.
- Backup & Recovery.
- Automation of monitoring & alerts generation.
- Experience on Disaster Recovery.
- Knowledge on Cluster setup such as Oracle RAC, HACMP, Veritas Cluster and Windows cluster.
- Knowledge on DB replication such as Dataguard, Goldengate & Disks Replication.
- DBMS installation & Upgrades.
- Standard enforcements.
- Capacity Management & Planning.
- SLA management 24X7 availability.

**Other Essential requirements are**:

- Good interpersonal skills, able to articulate well.
- Self-motivated and self-driven with mínimal supervision.
- Willingness to work on long hours when required.
- Good communication & customer service skills and the ability and desire to work in a collaborative team environment.
- Good knowledge in troubleshooting and root cause analysis. Process driven approach in day to day work and in problem management.

**Salary**: RM8,000.00 - RM11,500.00 per month
