As our Communications Manager, you will work closely with the Programme Leads in implementing and overseeing advocacy and communication efforts across multiple initiatives of the Institute, including but not limited to shaping and executing digital marketing, website and social media content strategies for several organizational accounts, engagements with the press and knowledge events. You will also oversee external engagements with our key stakeholders.

You will ensure the alignment of these activities to our goals and objectives, and to our broader advocacy strategies.

**Key Job Responsibilities**
- **Policy Communications, Content Strategy and Management**_
- Develop and execute an overall communications strategy for the Institute, including brand positioning to build awareness of the Institute and its various research pillars.
- Work with various research project teams on strategic content and messaging for public outreach which may include social media content strategy, media strategy, and knowledge events.
- Collaborate with content creators (project teams) to create compelling content to reach key audiences across media platforms.
- Plan and execute digital marketing campaigns, including SEO/SEM to increase website traffic and content impressions.
- Support the work of each project team looking to amplify their messages on social media or listen to their audience to analyse the sentiment.
- Work with research project teams to oversee the publication production process e.g., sourcing for editors, translators, printers, designer etc.

- Internal project governance: approval checklists prior to proposal and publication
- Monitoring project deliverables
- **External Stakeholder Management**_
- Oversee a centralised database of KRI’s external stakeholders
- **Public Relations**_
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with the media and other relevant external stakeholders and make media pitches
- **Event Management**_
- Organise and coordinate internal and external knowledge events or other external engagements
- Also includes public outreach programmes/events about the Institute
- **Digital Marketing**_
- Strategise and manage the Institute’s online presence via its website, various social media platforms, and an online newsletter to increase public outreach
- **Monitoring and Reporting**_
- Monitor and report of KRI’s media appearances
- Analyse data from an array of sources, including surveys, social media platforms, and keyword trends to understand our target audiences and identify the most appropriate content for the target demographic.
- Support social listening efforts on key communication channels.
- Analyse campaign performance data to brainstorm new and creative growth strategies.
- Measure and report the performance of all digital marketing campaigns and social media metrics in relation to determined goals (ROI and KPI)
- Monitor and report KRI researchers’ engagements with external stakeholders
- **Crisis Management**_
- Work together with the COO to advise the management on recommended plan of action

**Minimum Requirements**
- University degree in communications or journalism, development economics, international relations or political sciences, or other relevant fields.
- Minimum 6 years of experience in communications, public relations and/or marketing.
- Outstanding English written and oral communication skills, and fluency in Bahasa Malaysia.
- Ability to simplify complex issues and research content into more digestible and engaging content for the public.
- Demonstrable track record of progressively senior communications or media relations experience - preferably in government, academia, non-profit or nongovernmental organizations - including pitching and communicating with journalists and creating and executing communications strategies.

**Preferred Skills**
- Experienced or motivated to work in a non-profit public policy research organisation that focuses on nation-building and policy issues.
- Experience in organising knowledge or corporate events (virtual/physical/hybrid).
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, Hootsuite for social media analytics and Mailchimp for event management or other relevant tools or software related to the job description.
- Outstanding organization and time-management skills—ability to multi-task and prioritize workload with acute attention to detail.
- Proactive in identifying opportunities and finding solutions.
- Experience effectively working with multiple teams.
