**Job Overview**:
The Toolroom Machinist is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments. This role involves fabricating, modifying, and repairing tools, jigs, fixtures, and various other items used in the manufacturing process. The machinist ensures that all work meets exacting standards and specifications.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Operate machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, grinders, and CNC machines to produce precision parts.
- Set up machines to perform machining tasks according to detailed blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
- Fabricate, assemble, and repair tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures.
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on machine tools to ensure efficient operation.
- Use precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges to inspect finished parts for accuracy.
- Ensure all parts meet specified tolerances and quality standards.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
- Plan the sequence of operations to achieve the desired results.
- Inspect and test completed tools and parts to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications.
- Identify and correct any defects or discrepancies in the machining process.
- Maintain accurate records of machining activities, including machine setups, production runs, and maintenance tasks.
- Prepare reports on work completed, machine performance, and any issues encountered.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
- Comply with industry standards and regulations related to machining and tool fabrication.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance machining processes and toolroom efficiency.
- Recommend and implement improvements to machining techniques and practices.
**Required Skills and Qualifications**:
- SKM or Diploma with 2 years working experience or equivalent. Completion of a machinist apprenticeship program or technical training is preferred. Certification as a machinist is a plus.
- Proven experience as a machinist, preferably in a toolroom or similar setting.
- Proficiency in operating machine tools (lathes, mills, grinders, CNC machines) and using precision measuring instruments.
- In-depth understanding of machining techniques, tool fabrication, and materials used in manufacturing.
- Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.
- High level of precision and attention to detail to ensure quality and accuracy of machined parts.
- Strong problem-solving skills to identify and resolve machining issues.
**Work Environment**:
- The role is performed in a toolroom or machine shop setting, which may involve exposure to noise, dust, and machine oils.
- Requires standing for extended periods, lifting heavy materials, and operating machinery safely.

Pay: RM2,300.00 - RM3,000.00 per month
