Job Description: Confinement Nurse (Malaysia)

Position Overview:
As a Confinement Nurse in Malaysia, you will play a vital role in providing specialized care to postpartum mothers and newborns during the confinement period. This role involves offering culturally sensitive guidance on postnatal care, breastfeeding support, and ensuring the well-being of both the mother and the baby in alignment with Malaysian cultural practices.

Key Responsibilities:
**Cultural Awareness**:

- Demonstrate a deep understanding of Malaysian cultural practices related to postpartum care, confinement, and traditional remedies.
- Integrate cultural sensitivity into care practices and adapt services to meet the expectations and preferences of Malaysian families.

**Postnatal Care**:

- Provide comprehensive postpartum care to mothers, considering cultural preferences and practices.
- Monitor and assess the physical and emotional well-being of postpartum mothers, addressing concerns within the context of cultural norms.

**Traditional Postpartum Practices**:

- Familiarize yourself with traditional Malaysian confinement practices, including dietary restrictions, herbal remedies, and other cultural customs.
- Offer guidance and support to mothers who choose to follow traditional postpartum practices.

**Newborn Care**:

- Assist with newborn care, taking into account cultural beliefs and practices related to infant care.
- Educate parents on traditional and modern newborn care techniques, ensuring a holistic approach.

**Breastfeeding Support**:

- Provide culturally sensitive guidance and support to mothers in establishing successful breastfeeding.
- Acknowledge and address any cultural beliefs or taboos related to breastfeeding.

**Nutritional Guidance**:

- Offer advice on postpartum nutrition, aligning recommendations with cultural dietary preferences.
- Assist in meal planning and preparation, considering traditional postpartum dietary practices.

**Emotional Support**:

- Provide emotional support and counseling, recognizing the impact of cultural factors on postpartum well-being.
- Address cultural nuances related to postpartum mood disorders and offer appropriate support.

**Traditional Therapies**:

- Familiarize yourself with traditional postpartum therapies and remedies, such as herbal baths and massages.
- Provide information on the benefits and risks of traditional therapies while respecting individual choices.

**Communication with Families**:

- Establish open and effective communication with families, respecting cultural norms and preferences.
- Collaborate with families to create a personalized care plan that aligns with their cultural values.

Qualifications and Requirements:

- Registered Nurse (RN) with a valid license in Malaysia.
- Specialization or experience in obstetrics, postnatal care, or maternity nursing.
- In-depth knowledge of Malaysian cultural practices related to postpartum care.
- Strong communication skills in English and proficiency in local languages (e.g., Malay, Mandarin, Tamil).
- Cultural sensitivity and the ability to adapt care practices to meet the needs of diverse Malaysian families.

**Salary**: RM1,500.00 - RM2,500.00 per month
