To assist students in learning new and more effective ways to cope with stress and disappointment, resolve conflicts, deal with specific problems or habits, and manage their lives. 3. To provide consultation and advice to campus staff and faculty and family members to assist in dealing with students who have emotional problems. 4. To provide opportunities that unable students who may be experiencing personal, social or educational problems to work towards becoming more effective in their lives within and outside the institution. 5. To assist and support students with the transition to university life. 6. To provide developmental/preventative programmes and activities that assist students to become more effective and resourceful in their personal, social and academic life. 7. To provide a psychological consultative/advisory/voluntary training service to teaching and other staff enabling them to maximise their effectiveness in carrying out their pastoral care, guidance and learner support roles. 8. To develop the highest level of professional standards to ensure delivery of high quality, cost-effective counselling and psychological services to students. 9. Ensure appropriate report writing and record keeping in accordance to ethical codes and standards.
