**JOB PURPOSE**

The Maintenance Technician, who is multi-skilled in basic maintenance tasks, is responsible to carry out the day-to-day routine maintenance, undertaking minor repairs and delivery of cleaning resources across the campuses of the University.

The Maintenance Technician acts as the first line of response to defect reports. He will be responsible to assess the extent of repairs required and escalate the defects to the Facilities Manager in a timely manner to ensure that corrective actions are carried out to provide an excellent teaching and learning environment for students and employees of the University.

The Maintenance Technician is required to maintain a high level of customer service at all times.

**KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Act as the first line of response for defects in the University campuses, undertake minor repairs and escalate major repairs required to Facilities Manager.
- Conduct regular inspections of the University premises including checks on essential equipment (e.g. fire fighting, sewage pumps, roof, pumps, water coolers, toilet flush, etc.), provide feedback on preventive maintenance as well as determine and report the need for major repairs detected, if any, on a daily basis to the Facilities Manager.
- Coordinate with contractors and suppliers as and when the need arises.
- Perform handyman work including but not limited to replacement of light bulbs, minor carpentry repairs, patching and painting, plaster repair, minor plumbing repairs, minor roof replacement and repair, gutter cleaning and repairs, railing and fence work, door and window repairs and maintenance and minor concrete and masonry work.
- Ensure that all venues/rooms are properly arranged and ready for classes, functions, examinations and other events.
- Oversee the general cleaning of the whole University campuses; ensure all work areas are clean and tidy before, during and after all events/activities.
- Carry out removal and replacement of furniture, fittings and equipment within the University campuses, as required.
- Clean and organise tools and toolboxes, ensure the tools and equipment are used in the correct manner according to its functions and that the tools and equipment are maintained in a safe condition. Report any lost or missing items or damage/defects immediately.
- Perform routine landscaping on the grounds of the campuses.
- Follow University policy on the issuance and recording of keys usage; ensure that the premises are secure and properly locked at the end of the day.
- Assist in overseeing external contractors to ensure that works are carried out properly and accordingly.
- Assist in the general safety/security of the premises by reporting immediately any equipment that has malfunctioned, light bulbs that have failed, hazards such as slippery floor or stairs and the failure of locks on doors that are encountered during maintenance inspections.
- Ensure workplace safety rules and regulations are observed and adhered to, including security and fire regulations and all other aspects of health and safety.
- Ensure that fixtures and fittings in the classrooms and plumbing systems are in good condition at all times.
- Ensure that the water supply in the water tanks is constantly sufficient.
- Undertake any other duties that may be assigned from time to time.

**JOB SPECIFICATIONS**
- SKM certificate in electrical/plumbing/civil construction or equivalent.
- Two (2) years of working experience in similar capacity with experience in identifying and reporting defects. Fresh Graduates are also welcomed to apply.
- Knowledge and understanding of the safe use of maintenance tools and equipment.
- Possess general knowledge of electrical and plumbing systems.
- Ability to take and perform instructions effectively and understand instructions in Bahasa Malaysia and English.
- Ability to perform minor repairs and handle a variety of tools and equipment with care and in a safe and effective manner in routine situations.
- Knowledge of plumbing and other basic repairs and maintenance work.
- Knowledge of basic safety rules and regulations.

Pay: RM1,800.00 - RM2,500.00 per month
