Write and debug Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) code in accordance with programmer work instructions or customer requirements.
- Commission Industrial Networks and establish stable communication between PLCS and their network components, switches, and ancillary devices.
- Check function of all switches on cylinders, actuators, and other devices to verify functionality.
- Confirm sequence and operation of machines prior to programming with mechanical technician or engineering.
- Work closely with estimating, processing, and project management to review high-level program build and/or installation feasibility, constraints, or items of extraordinary cost implication.
- Perform and oversee team members who perform corrective maintenance, non-routine repair, modification, troubleshooting, calibration, of industrial components (including but not limited to PLC/HMI code, Robotic systems, Vision systems and Electro-mechanical devices).
- Project performance monitoring & forecasting
- Perform or manage systematic quality checks of projects
- Resource coordination to ensure highest value of properly trained and utilized team
- Utilizes various schematics, wiring diagrams, equipment manuals, and other resources.
- Maintains records of work performed; assists in providing content for machine manuals and similar documentation for the installation, maintenance, calibrating, removal and modification of electronic systems and equipment.
- Perform field service work as required for installation, modification, and service of systems.
- Advises and assists Team Leads, management, and others on operating problems involving automation systems and provides suggested remedies.
- Manage resources to execute within established schedule. Report weekly on workforce utilization and make recommendations when falling below established targets.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and champion successful results of the initiatives.
- Coordinate activities between integration teams, manufacturing teams and project management, to ensure efficient collaboration and use of assigned manpower.
- Analyse such customer standards and project specifications to determine and document the best and most cost-effective components, installation techniques, standard work instructions (SWIs), SOPs, and training required.
- Attend required project meetings and workshops.
Skills and Knowledge
- Degree in an engineering related discipline preferred.
- 10-15 years of working experience in ceramic industry
- Has good problem-solving abilities
- Is able to troubleshoot issues and determine the cause of a plan’s success or failure
- Has excellent leadership abilities
- Keeps up to date with changes in the market and technology that would affect new product development
- Excellent organizational and leaderships skills
- Strong decision-making skills and a results-driven approach
