Inspector of Works

Job position: 1) Inspector of works (Mechanical) Qualification: 1) Diploma in Mechanical Engineering 2) At least 5 years working experience in construction industry Job responsibilities: - Stationed at the construction site in Labuan during working hours;
- Report daily in person, to the Engineer / Project Manager. - Assisting the Engineer / Architects / Project Manager in coordinating all other services at the construction site. - Check and direct the Contractors in accordance to the specification, details and standard building M & E practices and refer design problems to the Engineer / Architects / Project Manager. - Check the workmanship and materials for conformity with the drawings, specification and site instructions, and to inform the engineer and the contractor where this is not achieved. - Take note of site instructions and any other relevant directives onto the drawings used in inspection, to ensure that they are taken into account during an inspection. - Prepare a written list of any points which may require attention, in conjunction with the Engineer, where the Contractor has asked for an inspection and pass the list to the contractor’s foreman. To check that these points have been rectified or agreed before this part of the works is covered unless the Engineer advises that relaxation of requirements has been agreed. A copy of the list should be passed to the Engineer / Project Manager. - Attend operations where full records are required e.g. testing and commissioning, etc. - Take note of minor variations which may affect payment and to notify the engineer / project manager. - Notify the Engineer / Project Manager of any accidents on site and record these in his dairy. - Keep record drawings marked with the dates when testing takes place. - Keep a record of the Contractor’s staff and Sub-contractors on site. - Supervise routine tests where requested. - Take record of progress of works as and when required and submit to the Engineer / Architects / Project Manager. - Record all materials delivered on site, copy to the Engineer and Quantity Surveyor. - Attend site meetings and technical meetings when they are convened. - Undertake any other work requested by the Engineer / Project Manager.
