Student Counsellor

JOB DESCRIPTION : STUDENT COUNSELLOR 1. Students’ Support i. Information and enquiries - to assist students’ feedback by student portal and walk-in and propose solutions or forward to respective departments for further action. ii. Language and academician skill support - organizing workshop/ webinar to enhance students’ learning and social skills. iii. Career, employment, further studies - to assist events such as career fair, career talk etc. iv. Mentor mentee programme - assist and implement a mentor-mentee system, involving lecturers and students. v. Orientation - to assist orientation day for new intake. To provide a motivation module to build student self-confidence and know their responsibility as students in City University. 2. Counselling i. Personal counselling & student development - to conduct individual counselling and group counselling sessions among students pertaining to their personal issues, academic issues, social issues, hostel issues etc. Assist students and guide them to solve their problems properly. ii. Student welfare - to encompass services that promote the physical, mental and social well-being of students. iii. Academic mentorship - a positive role model of a successful student who supports their mentee by giving academic advice, sharing resources, and caring about their students’ success. iv. Career & further study - to assist and guide students on career development planning based on their academic achievement, interest and potential. 3. Safety i. To attend student’s issues or injuries regarding their safety and assist students to get proper treatment. ii. Medical insurance - to prepare documentation for student insurance renewal and assist students to get insurance claims and communicate with insurance agents. iii. Preventive workshops - to engage with national agencies i.e - National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK) and organize workshops on any targeted issues related to students. 4. Student Activity related to Counselling i. To create, organize, coordinate student activities related to counselling matters. (e.g careers talk, personal guidance, motivational talk, etc) ii. To manage and monitor counselling club to promote counselling unit and events. iii. To create annual/ yearly counselling calendar event. 5. Special project i. Perform other duties as assigned from time to time by the Head of Department (HOD) / Management.
