The Commis I in the Cold Kitchen is an entry-level position within our culinary team, responsible for assisting in the preparation of cold food items, salads, appetizers, and desserts. This role provides an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about culinary arts to gain hands-on experience in a professional kitchen environment and develop essential skills under the guidance of experienced chefs.
**Responsibilities**:
- Assist in the preparation and assembly of cold food items, including salads, sandwiches, cold appetizers, and desserts, according to standardized recipes and portion sizes.
- Clean, peel, slice, and dice fruits, vegetables, and other ingredients required for cold dishes, ensuring freshness and quality.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the cold kitchen station, including refrigeration units, work surfaces, and equipment, in accordance with food safety and sanitation standards.
- Collaborate with senior chefs and other kitchen staff to support the smooth operation of the cold kitchen, following instructions and guidelines provided.
- Ensure all cold food items are prepared and presented to meet the hotel's standards for taste, texture, appearance, and temperature.
- Assist in monitoring and managing inventory levels of cold kitchen ingredients, notifying supervisors of low stock and assisting in stock rotation to minimize waste.
- Follow proper food handling, storage, and sanitation procedures to maintain a clean and hygienic work environment and prevent foodborne illnesses.
- Continuously seek opportunities to learn and improve culinary skills, actively participating in training sessions and seeking guidance from senior chefs.
**Qualifications**:
- Previous culinary experience or culinary education is preferred but not required.
- Passion for food and a desire to pursue a career in the culinary arts.
- Basic knowledge of food preparation techniques and kitchen equipment.
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining quality standards.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
**Salary**: RM2,200.00 - RM2,900.00 per month
