**Role description**

The Intern, Scouts for SDGs, is a member of the Scouting gevelopment global team within the World
Scout Bureau Global Support Centre in Kuala Lumpur, reporting to the Director, World Educational

Initiatives.

The person going through this internship programme will have numerous learning opportunities to
contribute to and support WSB operations. These opportunities will support the achievement of

WOSM’s triennial plan objectives under the educational methods and youth engagement in Scouting

areas.

The ideal applicant possesses expertise in Scouting’s Youth Programme and at least one of the Scouts
for SDGs initiatives and their educational challenges, recognitions, and other related areas of work,

such as Messengers of Peace, Scouts of the World Award, Earth Tribe, and Dialogue for Peace. The

applicant should have experience supporting the development of online and offline educational tools

and materials and managing volunteer networks with online technologies and social media.
Experience in project management and events management is an asset.

**Learning and development opportunities
The main learning opportunities for the Intern are in Scouts for SDGs initiatives with the

WSB’s global team for Scouting development. This will be achieved by:

- Contributing to the development of educational tools and reference documents for Scouts

for SDGs initiatives, in collaboration with relevant team leads.
- Supporting the creation of engaging online and digital content for the Scouts for SDGs hub

and other platforms.
- Assisting WOSM's staff and volunteers in projects related to the mobilisation of Scouts for

SDGs.
- Supporting the management of global networks through online mechanisms to enhance

communication and collaboration.
- Supporting the planning, management, and execution of projects and events.
- Assisting in the implementation of relevant 2021-2024 Operational Framework

workstreams and collaborating with WSB staff from global and regional support centres to
achieve related deliverables.
- Providing support for additional tasks outside of primary responsibilities as requested by

the director of World educational initiatives.

**Job requirements**

The ideal applicant must have formal education (studying or recently completed) and/or relevant

work expertise in the sustainable development goals (SDGs), education for sustainable development,

educational sciences, learning technologies, psychology, social science, and/or programme

development. Past expertise in the design and implementation of Scouting’s educational offering at a
national level, such as Youth Programme review or implementing Messengers of Peace, Earth Tribe, or

Scouts of the World, will be considered an asset.

**Qualifications and experience**
- Formal education (studying or recently completed) and/or relevant work experience in the

SDGs, education for sustainable development, educational sciences, learning technologies,
psychology, social science, and/or programme development, or similar or other relevant to
the education for young people. Equivalent knowledge and competencies through experience
will be considered.
- Experience with any Scouts for SDGs in the community, Scouts for SDGs initiative, or
- relevant topic is an asset.- Experience in writing or editing materials and reference documents.
- Development of ideas for educational tools and materials.
- Experience working within a multicultural and international environment.
- Contribution to the coordination with partners.
- Collaboration in teams and work networks.
- Management of social media in a working environment.
- Management of digital platforms in a working environment.
- Management of small
- to medium-scale projects and events.

**Knowledge and skills
- Knowledge of education for sustainable development, SDGs, educational programmes development

and management.
- Knowledge in education and learning theories and methods.
- Knowledge of non-formal educational methods and tools.
- Knowledge and strong interest in Scouting’s Scouts for SDGs Initiatives and Youth

Programme, as well as understanding World-level policy documents and guidelines from
areas mentioned.
- Ability to communicate well in English, both spoken and written. The ability to

communicate in any of the other WOSM languages (French, Spanish, Arabic, Russian) is an
asset.
- Ability to conduct a presentation or training session.
- Strong knowledge and proficiency of Office 365, online collaborative tools (e.g. Zoom,
- Slack), and project tools (e.g. Smartsheet and Dropbox).- Experience in developing online and e-learning content from assets, such as photographs,
