Lab Technician

1. To prepare for lab session using the Laboratory Preparation Guide, with correct amount and type of equipment and chemical solution.

2. At the completion of the lab session, equipment used to be cleaned, dried, and returned to its storage place.

3. To maintain the general orderliness, safety and cleanliness of the laboratory.

4. To ensure presence throughout the duration of lab sessions assigned.

5. To assist in marketing‐related duties. E.g. Science workshops for during school visits.

6. To assist in preparing bound copies of lab manuals for students.

7. To maintain daily log of work done.

8. To assist in stock checking of chemical and laboratory items and to assist in updating stock lists.

9. To record in the stock list the date a particular bottle of chemical is taken from the store and opened and when its content is emptied.

10. To check, store and record delivery orders.

11. To inform lab coordinator when the last bottle of a chemical is taken from the store.

12. To keep track and inform lab coordinator of expired chemicals and other waste items that need to be disposed.

13. To report breakdowns and repairs of lab equipment to lab supervisor.

14. To assist in yearly “spring cleaning” of labs.

15. To attend trainings and meeting as instructed by lab coordinator.

16. To perform any other duties as assigned by the Lab Coordinator or Director of Centre.
