**Direct Search Global is working with international maritime company to fill the role of Corporate Planner (Strategic Planning) to be based in their Malaysia office.**

**Responsibilities**:
Strategic Planning:
- Assist the Senior Corporate Planner in the strategic planning capacity - aiding in defining the Group’s objectives and facilitating the conceptualization and formulation of strategic endeavors aimed at creating value for stakeholders across short, medium, and long-term periods.
- Participate in, oversee, and synchronize the organization-wide extended-term strategic planning and yearly planning routines.
- Conduct analyses to determine organizational effectiveness, strengths, weaknesses, and conduct research on the external environment to evaluate trends, prospects, and hazards. This input will aid in advising the group strategy and growth initiatives (both organic and inorganic).
- Foster and share experiences to cultivate competencies within the Corporate Planning team.
Business Partnership:
- Coordinate and strategize collaboration with Assigned Units to formulate their short, medium, and long-term strategies along with annual business plans.
- Evaluate the feasibility of the Assigned Units’ business plans and corresponding risk mitigation strategies to strike a balance between risk and reward. Moreover, ensure alignment between their business strategies and plans and the Group’s overarching corporate agenda.
- Oversee and assist in the role of central contact for business planning matters pertaining to the Assigned Units.
- Provide regular and on-demand information concerning the Assigned Units, including updates for the Portfolio of Investments and Opportunities (PIO) and monthly updates.
- Support the Senior Corporate Planner in reviewing Performance Risk Assessments (PRAs) for the Assigned Units, ensuring compliance with established standards and procedures to safeguard shareholders’ investments and the Group’s assets.
- Advise and guide project leads or sponsors during the PRA process, particularly regarding the project risk register, ratings, and issues, including proposing practical mitigations/solutions to balance risk and reward.
- Oversee quarterly reviews of risk scorecards to ensure comprehensive tracking, mitigation, and reporting of risks.
- Collaborate with the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) team to implement/review risk initiatives for the Assigned Units.
- Manage and assist in the role of primary contact for risk-related matters concerning the Assigned Units.
- Support the Senior Corporate Planner in monitoring emerging trends assigned to signposts.
- Assist the Senior Corporate Planner in collaborating with the Projects & Business Improvement (PBI) team and/or the Assigned Units to assess business growth opportunities that align with the Group’s business objectives.
- Provide input on the identification, origination, or recommendation of suitable transaction structures or approaches (e.g., joint venture agreements, Memorandum of Understanding) for effective execution of transactions.
- Develop proposals for appropriate capital structures (e.g., equity, bonds, debt financing) to optimize returns and minimize risks of selected transaction ideas or opportunities.
- Design an appropriate internal corporate structure to facilitate efficient management, ring-fencing, or other management objectives.
**Job Requirements**:
- A minimum of 10 years’ experience in finance / accounting / audit / corporate planning / equity research / investment banking / strategy / consulting.
- Prior experience in a risk management or risk-based audit environment is a plus.
- Possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Studies, Economics, or equivalent. Additional qualifications like a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) or an MBA would be advantageous.
