A fantastic opportunity for a Patent Attorney to work in Cochlear Malaysia. In this role, you will leverage specialist knowledge to help implementation and refinement of patent clearance strategies for Cochlear’s world-leading medical devices. This aspect of the role requires direct engagement with internal and external stakeholders worldwide, including Australia, Europe and the USA. You will also support Cochlear's IP by working across various technology areas, product types and geographic regions to protect and enhance Cochlear's leading market position using patents.

Key Responsibilities:
In this role your key responsible is for:

- Supporting Cochlear’s IP Strategy by supporting the management of IP risks.

Other Responsibilities:

- Support Cochlear’s patent filing process by analysing invention disclosures and conducting patentability searches for them.
- Provide legal counsel to inventors, technology and project team leaders regarding expectations and approaches to protect intellectual property effectively.
- Actively participate in process development and other department improvements to increase the effectiveness of the IP Dept, e.g., through streamlining processes, creating better decision-making capability within the process, and implementing tools to enhance the value of the patent portfolio.
- Provide training to technical and other groups within Cochlear on IP strategy, IP procedures, and maximizing corporate benefit of its innovations.

Key Requirements;
- Obtained degrees in law or engineering or other physical science, ideally both.
- Technical knowledge in bio-medical, electrical, or mechanical engineering or other appropriate physical science.
- Patent attorney firm experience.
- Experience and knowledge of laws, rules, regulations and practice under various national patent systems, such as US, Europe and China
- Ability to communicate with all levels of people at Cochlear worldwide.
