Regulatory Affairs role aim to ensure that there are “no surprises” in relation to regulatory changes affecting all HSBC entities in Malaysia (HSBC Bank Malaysia Berhad, HSBC Amanah Malaysia Berhad, HSBC (Malaysia) Trustee Berhad, HSBC Limited Offshore Banking Unit Labuan and HSBC Corporate Advisory (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd) (collectively “HSBC Malaysia”) or dealings with regulators, and in particular as they relate to Compliance risks.

To ensure HSBC remains compliant with evolving regulations, a project is established to identify and categorize regulatory changes, determine necessary Board reporting, independent review and attestation obligations and address potential compliance gaps. As such we are currently seeking an intern to join our team in the role of **Regulatory Affairs Intern**.

This project aims to provide hands-on experience to an intern who will assist in these tasks, contributing to safeguarding of our company against regulatory risks while fostering their analytical and critical thinking skills.

1. Regulatory Assessment:

- Evaluate regulations to identify necessary reporting, attestation, independent review, and assurance obligations to either the Board of Directors or to the regulators.
- To categorize the regulations into various topics and risk areas, whilst identifying potential mismatches between risk areas and assigned risk stewards.

2. Stakeholder Engagement:

- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to gather necessary information and insights of the regulatory requirements.
- Assist Senior Regulatory Affairs Manager to discuss and address any identified gaps and mismatches with relevant stakeholders.

3. Compliance Reporting:

- Prepare detailed reports and presentations to provide updates on the regulatory assessments and outcome.
- Ensure timely and accurate submission of the required reports.
Requirements
- Availability to work full time from **June** **2024 **for **a period of 3 to 6 months.**:

- Holder of or is currently pursuing a diploma or bachelor’s degree in law, Finance, Business Administration or a related field.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret regulations.
- Excellent communication skills and command in English
- Proactive approach with the ability to think outside the box.
- Attention to detail with critical thinking skills, including the ability to connect the dots, identify mismatches and draw logical conclusions from various pieces of information.
- Ability to work under pressure
- Capable in preparing reports and presentations for senior management is a plus.
- Knowledge of industry-specific regulations and standards is a plus.
