The United Nations Trade and Development (UNCTAD), which is governed by its 194-member States, is the United Nations body responsible for dealing with development issues, particularly international trade - the main driver of economic growth and development. UNCTAD offers direct technical assistance to developing countries and countries with economies in transition, helping them to build the capacities they need to become equitably integrated into the global economy and improve the well-being of their populations. Started in the early eighties ASYCUDA is UNCTAD's largest Technical Assistance programme currently involved in over 90 countries around the world. It is also the acronym for Automated SYstem for CUstoms DAta which is its flagship software to support customs clearance operations. It is built around and applies all the prevailing international standards and best practices, to provide an online seamless processing environment for both Customs staff and the trading community. The ASYCUDA software is constantly updated and improved and uses the latest technology. The ASYCUDA Programme has regional offices around the world to support all the user administrations, and its office covering the Asia and Pacific region is now expanding its support operations and is looking for one qualified ICT Associate to join the Regional Support Team as reliance on digital technology continues to increase in all office operations, projects, and programme deliveries. Under the guidance and direct supervision of the ASYCUDA Regional Coordinator for Asia & Pacific, the ICT Associate provides ICT technical support services to user administration in the Asia and Pacific regions. The ICT Associate should promote a client-oriented approach. The ICT Associate will work in close collaboration with Geneva HQ and UNCTAD personnel, including the user countries’ project staff and customs administrations in the Asia and Pacific regions, and ASYCUDA Regional Office to better enable, leverage and deploy technology solutions that helps the UNCTAD/ASYCUDA Programme implement new ways of doing business to work smarter and more efficiently, and ultimately to improve the way it provides value to its partners, stakeholders, and beneficiaries.

**Position Purpose**

Under the guidance and direct supervision of the ASYCUDA Regional Coordinator for Asia & Pacific, the ICT Associate provides leadership in execution of ICT services in the UNCTAD/ASYCUDA Regional Office, implements ICT management systems and strategies, and provides daily technical support to users of ASYCUDA and other information management tools and technology infrastructure. The incumbent is responsible for reviewing and advising UNITED NATIONS DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME - JOB DESCRIPTION 2 on the use of new technologies that will enhance productivity. The ICT Associate promotes a client-oriented approach. The ICT Associate will work in close collaboration with Geneva HQ and UNCTAD ICT personnel, including the user countries’ project staff and customs administrations in the Asia and Pacific regions, and ASYCUDA Regional Office to better enable, leverage and deploy technology solutions that helps the UNCTAD/ASYCUDA Programme implement new ways of doing business to work smarter and more efficiently, and ultimately to improve the way it provides value to its partners, stakeholders, and beneficiaries.

**1.) Ensure implementation of ICT strategies and introduction/implementation of new technology.**

Example of Duties:_**
- Ensure compliance with corporate information management and technology standards, guidelines, and procedures for the UNCTAD/ASYCUDA technology environment.
- Participate in development and implementation of Standard Operating Procedures in ICT services.
- Conduct market research and analysis and provide support in introducing new technology for UNCTAD/ASYCUDA system updating and improvement.
- Provide advice on and assistance in procurement of new ICT equipment for the CO and projects; and provide technical specifications and information on best options in both local and international markets. Review quotations and bids.
- Participate in development and implementation of ICT annual plan. Maintain the measures in place for business continuity and disaster recovery processes and procedures.
- Provide ICT support for key events.
