Ferry Captain

Ferry Captain duties, piloting and navigating ferry; ensuring the safety and welfare of the vessel, crew, passengers, and other public property; and adhering to all international maritime regulations.

**Responsibilities**:

- Operate the vessel in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with company policies and procedures
- Maintain constant vigilance while underway, monitoring all aspects of the vessel’s operation and the surrounding environment
- Make decisions regarding the safety of the vessel and its passengers, using sound judgment and experience
- Handle mooring lines and docking maneuvers when arriving at and departing from port
- Oversee the loading and unloading of vehicles and passengers, ensuring that all are done in a safe and orderly fashion
- Conduct passenger counts and vehicle inventories as required
- Monitor the behavior of passengers and take appropriate action if necessary
- Keep an accurate log of the vessel’s movements, maintenance, and any incidents that occur during the voyage
- Communicate with other vessels, shoreside facilities, and traffic control centers using radio or other means as required
- Prepare the vessel for inclement weather and other potential hazards
- Train new crew members in vessel operations and safety procedures
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on the vessel as needed

The above duties are a guide to the nature of work required and are not intended all the tasks associated with the role. Incumbent maybe required to perform any other duties as and when assigned by Management from time to time.

**Requirements**:

- Have experiences at least **5 - 8 years in marine and ferry operations.**:

- **Standards of Training, Certification, and Watchkeeping (STCW) certificate.**:

- Possess any related safety and medical certificate such as Basic Fire Fighting, Basic Water Survival, Basic Social Responsibility and Basic First Aid.
- Have a valid **Seaman Card** and valid **Medical Certificate** issued by an Accredited Medical Practitioner by the Marine Department of Malaysia.
- Obtained a Certificate of Competency as Mate on Ships of Less Than 500 Gross Tonnage on domestic trade voyages and Master of 500GT Domestic Trade Voyage.
- **Able to work at Kuala Besut, Terengganu**.
- Must have unfaltering good manners, be well always spoken and presentable. Be the first to greet guests when they board into the ferry.
- Ferry Captain must be a good listener and observer, and must have an analytical mind. He should focus on safety aspects of ferry operations.
- A high degree of physical fitness is required as the ferry captain job requires him to work under various weather conditions including foul weather.
- Able to take responsibility and have good judgement.
- Ferry Captain is also required to know safety general codes and the crew safe training.
- Ferry Captain should be accountable for everything that happens under your watch.
- Be able to adapt quickly and embrace their job responsibilities and environment.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: Up to RM8,000.00 per month
