Job Summary:
The storekeeper is responsible for managing and maintaining the store's inventory and ensuring efficient storage, distribution, and tracking of goods and supplies. They play a vital role in maintaining accurate inventory records, monitoring stock levels, and coordinating with suppliers and other departments to ensure timely delivery of goods.
**Responsibilities**:
- Receive and inspect incoming goods and supplies, verifying quantities and quality against purchase orders or invoices.
- Organize and maintain inventory levels in the store or warehouse, ensuring proper storage, labeling, and categorization of items.
- Monitor and track inventory movements, including receipts, issues, and transfers, using manual or computerized inventory management systems.
- Conduct regular stock counts and reconciliations to ensure accuracy of inventory records, identifying and investigating any discrepancies.
- Coordinate with suppliers and purchasing department to place orders for replenishment of stock based on inventory levels and anticipated demand.
- Prepare and maintain records of stock levels, stock movements, and consumption reports, providing regular reports to management.
- Handle and process requests for items or materials from different departments, ensuring timely distribution and accurate documentation.
- Collaborate with the finance department to ensure proper accounting and recording of inventory-related transactions.
- Implement and enforce proper inventory control procedures, including FIFO (First-In, First-Out) and LIFO (Last-In, First-Out) methods, to minimize spoilage, damage, and obsolescence.
- Identify and report any operational or inventory-related issues, such as shortages, damaged goods, or storage constraints, to the relevant stakeholders.
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, or other material handling equipment to move, load, or unload inventory as required.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment in the store or warehouse, adhering to health and safety guidelines.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certification in inventory management or logistics is a plus.
- Proven experience as a storekeeper, inventory controller, or similar role.
- Strong knowledge of inventory management principles, procedures, and best practices.
- Familiarity with computerised inventory management systems and proficiency in using inventory software.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in recording and handling inventory data.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills to interact with suppliers, staff, and other departments effectively.
- Physical stamina and ability to lift and move heavy objects when required.
- Knowledge of safety protocols and experience in operating material handling equipment is an advantage.
**Salary**: RM1,500.00 - RM1,600.00 per month
