Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced Mine Manager to lead our underground mining operations in Malaysia. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the entire mine planning and management process, ensuring optimal resource extraction and production efficiency.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Overall Mine Management: The Mine Manager will be responsible for managing the entire mine planning and management process, working closely with the geological and engineering teams to design and review underground mine methods and plans.
  2. Mine Exploration: The Mine Manager will work with geologists to determine the direction of the mine exploration program and reporting, taking into consideration the existing life of mine and mine cashflow position.
  3. Mine Design, Planning and Scheduling: The Mine Manager will work closely with the geological and engineering teams, consultants, and contractors to design and review underground mine methods and plans, considering geological structure and challenges.
  4. Execution and Monitoring of Mining Plan: The Mine Manager will ensure the mining plan is properly executed by relevant units and continuously monitor execution actions to maximize extraction and production efficiency.
  5. Risk and Safety Management: The Mine Manager will work with the Safety Officer to ensure implementation and enforcement of all safety measures, identifying, managing, and mitigating potential risks in line with the Group's Enterprise Risk Management.
  6. Overseeing the Efficiency and Effectiveness of Crushing and Concentration Plants: The Mine Manager will work closely with supervisors and contractors operating the crushing and concentration plants to ensure cost and operational efficiency and perform necessary product allocations.
  7. Contractor Management: The Mine Manager will oversee and manage contractors of Chaah Mine to ensure they carry out duties and responsibilities in accordance with their terms of appointment and comply with safety and industrial standards.
  8. Implement QAQC Measures: The Mine Manager will work with the operation team and QA/AC team to oversee quality assurance and quality control measures to maintain product standards and meet customer requirements.
  9. Environmental Monitoring and Compliance: The Mine Manager will work with the Environmental Management team to ensure all activities are in compliance with environmental laws and regulations.
  10. Oversee Equipment Maintenance: The Mine Manager will ensure the Workshop team maintains mining fleet machinery and equipment to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.
  11. Lead and Motivate Teams: The Mine Manager will provide leadership to mining teams to maximize production targets while ensuring high efficiency and morale, spearheading initiatives to enhance productivity, safety, and environmental sustainability across mining operations.
  12. Maintain Statistical Records and Conduct Trend Analysis: The Mine Manager will keep accurate records of mining operations and analyze trends to identify areas for operational improvements and increased efficiencies.
  13. Compliance with Regulations: The Mine Manager will ensure strict adherence to environmental, health, and safety regulations, obtain necessary permits, and uphold corporate governance standards.
  14. Undertake Ad Hoc Tasks: The Mine Manager will handle any additional tasks or projects assigned by superiors to support overall company objectives.
Requirements
  1. A Bachelor's degree in Mineral Resources / Mining Engineering, Geology, or a related field.
  2. A minimum of 5 years of experience in a leadership role within the underground mining industry, civil engineering, or construction is essential.
  3. Strong technical knowledge of underground mining operations, equipment, and industry best practices is crucial for overseeing mining activities effectively and ensuring optimal resource extraction.
  4. Familiarity with regulatory requirements for mining operations in Malaysia such as MDA, SME including environmental and safety standards.
  5. Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  6. Ability to speak in Mandarin will be an added advantage.
  7. Ability to work collaboratively across departments and with external stakeholders.
