We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Geriatrician Specialist to join our team at the Health Services Authority. As a Consultant Physician - Geriatrics, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient-centered geriatric services to our patients.
Key Responsibilities- Manage Complex Medical Cases: You will be responsible for managing illnesses, including acute and chronic medical care, in adults 60 years and over.
- Collaborate with Colleagues: You will work closely with other specialists and healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care to our patients.
- Provide Outpatient Clinics and Ward Rounds: You will be responsible for providing regular geriatric service outpatient clinics and ward rounds on a regular basis.
- Participate in 24-Hour Call Duty: You will be required to participate in 24-hour call duty to ensure that our patients receive timely and effective care.
- Assess Care Requirements: You will assess the care requirements of older persons, including nutritional, lifestyle, cognitive, mental, and physical health issues.
- Manage Referrals: You will manage cases referred by colleagues, including non-HSA physicians, working in close cooperation with the management of patients.
To be successful in this role, you will need to possess a postgraduate qualification (FRCS or DM, Internal Medicine) from a recognized institution. You will also need to have at least five (5) years postgraduate experience in the Internal Medicine specialty and significant experience in Geriatric Medicine. You must be eligible to practice in the Cayman Islands with the Cayman Islands Medical & Dental Council.
You will also need to demonstrate exceptional communication skills, empathy, and good decision-making skills. You must be able to work well within diverse multidisciplinary teams.
