About the Role

  • This position plays a critical role in defining and implementing regional regulatory strategies to support business growth in Asia Pacific.
  • You will provide strategic guidance to countries in the region, ensuring compliance with regulations and maintaining BASF's License to Operate.
  • A key responsibility is to maintain close communication with global regulatory affairs teams to prevent impacts on other regions.
  • Additionally, you will address regulatory issues, coordinate scientific support, and steer activities related to registrations to ensure timely approvals.
  • You will advise regional business teams on regulatory matters and collaborate with P&SS Leadership and Herbicide Project Teams to drive business growth.

Main Areas of Responsibilities and Key Activities

  • Strategic Regulatory Guidance: Provide high-impact guidance to Asia Pacific countries and Global Regulatory Affairs for securing and/or defending registrations.
  • Registration Strategy Development: Define and optimize innovative regional and country registration strategies to support business goals and expedite market launches.
  • Regional Registration Planning: Lead the implementation of regional registration plans and budget for assigned portfolio, approving and coordinating execution by scientific and registration teams.
  • Global-Regional Alignment: Ensure alignment between Global and Regional Regulatory Affairs on portfolio regulatory decisions impacting broader scope beyond assigned portfolio LTO or Asia Pacific region.
  • Registration Dossiers Management: Drive content review, consistency, and decision-making processes for registration dossiers, interact with governmental authorities, and set requirements.
  • Regulatory Knowledge and Support: Maintain up-to-date regulatory project files, understand major regulations, and their impact on the portfolio. Support skill development of country regulatory managers.
  • Stewardship and Risk Mitigation: Actively contribute to stewardship and risk mitigation measures with related stakeholders to promote proper use of BASF products and compliance with standards.

Job Requirements

  • A scientific background with a Bachelor's degree (preferably Master's) in entomology, chemistry, toxicology, or agronomy.
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in regulatory affairs, preferably across two or more countries. Experience with national regulatory authorities or public health/pest control in Asia Pacific is advantageous.
  • Strong science background, knowledge of regulatory procedures, and project management experience.
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken). Proficiency in another language is an advantage.
