About This Role
">We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Tax Consultant to join our team in Penang office. As a Tax Consultant, you will be responsible for managing tax costs and obligations for companies and individuals, particularly in cross-border tax matters. You will leverage Deloitte's global resources to stay up-to-date on tax-related developments and provide advice on structuring investments, mergers and acquisitions, transfer pricing, tax planning, and compliance.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Tax Compliance Reporting: Demonstrate technical competence in tax compliance reporting and ability to draft tax advisory deliverables.
  • Tax Advisory: Up to date with key technical updates and competent in suggesting solutions to employers and individual expatriates' concerns on tax compliance related issues.
  • Communication Skills: Strong communication skills and able to influence and persuade clients and stakeholders.
  • Tax Software: Understand and utilize tax software to prepare and process returns.
  • Process Improvement: Able to identify and help to explore potential improvements on engagement processes.
  • Compliance and Risk Assessment: Conduct compliance and reporting, tax management, risk and control assessment.
  • Business Development: Contribute to business development and client pursuit activities by preparing proposals and presentations for potential clients and thought leadership brochures.
  • Client Engagement: Contact officers from Inland Revenue Board and other government agencies where required.
  • Support Tasks: Other support tasks required by the team.

Requirements

  • Educational Background: Possess a minimum Bachelor's Degree in related disciplines such as Accounting & Finance/Economics or equivalent with a minimum CGPA of 3.20.
  • Experience: Senior role: Possess at least 3 years experience in related field. Associate role: Possess at least 1 year experience in related field.
  • Language Proficiency: Strong proficiency in both written and spoken English and Bahasa Malaysia.
  • Career Development: Active participant in career development and training processes.
  • Teamwork: Teamwork – strong ability to work with others and share responsibilities.
  • Workload Management: Solid ability to prioritize and organize workload.
