Financial Controller for Retail and F&B

Company Overview:

Alami Commodities is a leading company in the industry, seeking an experienced Financial Controller to lead our Retail and F&B operations. As a key member of our finance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting, as well as maintaining compliance with local regulations.

Job Description:

  • Manage Month-End, Quarter-End and Year-End Closing: Ensure closure of accounts in compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements and accounting standards.
  • Prepare and Analyze Cashflow Projections: Monitor the company's cash flow to ensure effective financial management and planning.
  • Tax Compliance: Oversee and manage all tax-related activities to ensure compliance with local tax laws.
  • Cost Management: Handle and manage costing to maintain financial efficiency.
  • Audit Management: Coordinate and manage internal and external audits to ensure compliance and accuracy in financial reporting.
  • Daily Operations Supervision: Supervise daily operations including costing, accounts receivable, general ledger and reporting functions.
  • Project Collaboration: Participate in local implementation projects and automation projects and reconcile events in the system reports and contracted vendor settlement statements.
  • Timely Reporting: Ensure timely and accurate reporting for all relevant submissions both internally and externally.
  • System Implementation Success: Lead and ensure successful go-live for any new financial system.
  • General Ledger & Reporting Management: Oversee, manage and reconcile general ledger account activity, balance A/R and A/P control accounts to detail aging.
  • Compliance Assurance: Ensure all financial and accounting activities are in line with local regulations and group standards.
  • Maintains F&B cash balance records, reconciles cash receipts and disbursements to the general ledger.
  • Audits F&B cash handling procedures and performs cash vault audits.
  • Analyzes F&B credit card settlement and chargebacks.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Degree in Accounting/Finance or related field.
  • Experience: Min 5 years and above of experience in general ledger accounting or similar role.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software (e.g. SQL) and advanced knowledge of MS Excel.
  • Knowledge of Accounting Principles: Solid understanding of accounting principles and practices, including GAAP or IFRS.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Three MUST HAVE Criteria:

  • Attention to Detail: Ability to perform detailed and accurate work, ensuring all entries in the general ledger are correct and well-documented.
  • Deadline Oriented: Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines, especially during month-end, quarter-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
