Key Responsibilities include Collaborating with various teams and functions to research, propose, and build new solutions and evolve existing ones using AI to improve a product or outcome; Designing and conducting online and offline evaluations to compare variants of AI-based product features; Becoming a technical reference to the team on core AI-related topics; Sometimes leading and sometimes contributing to AI projects helping the business to achieve strategic priorities; Breaking down problems and projects, estimating and prioritising activities, and proposing alternatives to overcome obstacles; Resolving impediments by liaising our Engineering and Project Management functions to build relationships within the organisation based on trust; and Working with Product, Data Science, Engineering, Strategy, and Commercial teams to address a variety of challenging business problems.

AIPS has a matrix structure where your direct line manager will act as a coach and technical mentor, but your day-to-day activity will be determined by the squad priorities. Key accountabilities include Forming clear data addressable problem statements from current business problems; Gathering, validating, and understanding data relevant to the problem statement; Designing and building data transformation pipelines and machine learning algorithms to solve the business problem; Working with product management and other business collaborators to review and iterate data products to fit emerging market trends; and Evangelising appropriate ML methods and explaining them, and their associated benefits and limitations to team members from Engineering and Strategy.

Essential Qualifications, Skills, and Experience include A MSc or PhD qualification in Computer Science, Computational Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field, or at least 5 years relevant experience; Professional experience in at least one of: Python, R, SAS, Julia, MATLAB, etc. We are mostly a Python shop; Strong background in Statistics and Machine Learning; Strong background in Algorithms and data structures; Good communication and interpersonal skills; and Ability to adapt quickly and thrive in an environment of rapid change and development.
