Data Backup & Restore Engineer (Reporting)

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Backup & Restore Engineer with expertise in reporting and system analysis to join our team at Commerz Global Service Solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Taking technical responsibility for products, including documentation and governance topics.
  • Improving global standards and reviewing architecture to align with the bank's strategy.
  • Excellent knowledge of data backup and archiving technologies, including Veritas NetBackup/Alta Data protection.
  • Recording requirements, analysis, consulting, technical support regarding data backup solutions, and coordination during implementation.
  • Planning and deploying required backup and archiving capabilities and underlying hardware/software versions.
  • Developing customized solutions based on standardized data backup/archiving services and continuous development of implemented solutions.
  • Programming scripts using REST API to automate system processes.
  • Managing release and patch demands for the implemented data backup systems.
  • Identifying optimization options regarding availability, performance management, information flows, disaster recovery, and security to ensure stable, low-disruption operations.
  • Evaluating and analyzing system environments regarding technical feasibility, cost-effectiveness, and efficiency in the form of TCO, business case, and benchmarking.
  • Planning and controlling replacement and development activities in the data backup systems.
  • Analyzing existing and potential future data center locations of the backup infrastructure and supporting the technical implementation during location changes.
  • Effective communication at all levels from customers to senior management.

Requirements:

  • Strong programming skills in Python.
  • Experience with Cyber Threat functionalities within NetBackup/Alta View.
  • Strong knowledge of RDBMS (Oracle preferred).
  • Experience in performance/usage reporting of backup and archiving environments.
  • Good knowledge of NetBackup IT Analytics / Alta View.
  • Data backup and archiving skills in enterprise environments, especially Veritas NetBackup and Versity VSM / ScoutAM.
  • Ansible/Python programming knowledge.
  • Good knowledge of Red Hat Linux and Windows operating systems.
  • Ability to cooperate, high resilience, and flexibility, especially regarding agile working methods.
  • Advanced communication skills in English, both spoken and written (German is an advantage).
