Main Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality accounting and reporting services to our customers in accordance with established financial processes and procedures, ensuring compliance with internal controls, local regulations, and statutory requirements.
  • Maintain accurate and timely delivery of financial reports, adhering to service level agreements and targets.
  • Support and perform various financial tasks as required, including transaction processing, master data maintenance, and account analysis.

Key Tasks:

Functional Tasks (including but not limited to):

  • Provide daily support for financial transaction processing, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timeliness.
  • Analyze and book accounting transactions, fixed asset transactions, and master data maintenance, working closely with stakeholders.
  • Clear open items in accounts, executing month-end close steps according to work instructions and checklists.
  • Prepare comprehensive financial reports for group management, internal reporting, and statutory purposes, including audit schedules and tax schedules.
  • Coordinate month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities to ensure timely and accurate closure of accounts.
  • Perform analytical reviews of profit and loss accounts, balance sheets, trend analysis, cost center checks, and transaction posting checks.
  • Troubleshoot issues related to financial reporting processes, collaborating with relevant stakeholders.
  • Liaise with colleagues and external partners on financial reporting work issues and queries.
  • Pursue continuous improvement initiatives in operational areas.
  • Take on backup duties when required and perform other tasks as delegated, including job rotation to other functional teams.

Compliance and Governance:

  • Participate in compliance audits, responding to audit queries and ensuring adherence to Internal Control Framework.
  • Contribute to updating work documentation and processes to meet regulatory and statutory requirements.
  • E nsure compliance with BASF policies, guidelines, and reporting requirements.

Knowledge Management:

  • Assist in effective knowledge transfer within the team for sustainable knowledge development.
  • Contribute to maintaining and updating comprehensive training materials for General Accounting & Reporting internal functional training.
  • Participate in functional training according to established training structures.
  • Contribute inputs to establish a knowledge database of work problems encountered and steps for resolution, facilitating continuous learning and knowledge sharing throughout the Financial Reporting team.
  • Support new and existing team members through proper knowledge transfer and best practice sharing, ensuring quality is maintained through staff transitions.

Professional Guidance and Multiple Reporting Lines:

  • F ollow BASF Group guidelines, accounting, and reporting guidelines.
  • Understand and follow local regulations and statutory requirements.

Frequent Cooperation within BASF Group:

  • Collaborate with counterparts, relevant stakeholders, internal auditors, and other BSSCKL functional teams.
  • SDU Head, Senior Manager, Manager, Assistant Manager, and Senior Analyst, and peer team members.
  • Service Centre management team.
  • Global/Regional Finance Reporting functional units.

Frequent Cooperation outside BASF Group:

  • Work closely with external consultants, auditors, etc.

Degree of Supervision Required in the Job:

  • The work is regularly supervised.

Minimum Education and Qualification Required for the Position:

Education:

  • University degree in finance and accounting or business studies; and/or
  • Chartered or Certified Professional Accountant or equivalent.

Working Experience:

  • A minimum of 2 years' experiences in Financial Reporting or other accounting functions. Competent candidates with lesser years of experience may be considered.
  • Preferably experience working in SAP system or other major ERP system's work environment.
  • Experience in a shared service or business process outsourcing engagement will be an added advantage.
  • Experience working in a MNC or Malaysian Public listed company preferred.

Technical & Professional Knowledge:

  • Knowledge and understanding of Financial Reporting and other accounting functions.
  • Knowledge and experience of MS office tools.
  • Proficiency in English and other languages required with good communication skills.
