About this role

We are seeking a highly skilled Tax Manager to join our team in Malaysia. As a Tax Manager, you will be responsible for managing tax compliance assignments, performing or managing advisory and tax planning assignments, and coaching and guiding team members and assistants on tax projects.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage tax compliance assignments, ensuring adherence to tax regulations and procedures.
  • Perform or manage advisory and tax planning assignments, providing expert advice to clients.
  • Coach and guide team members and assistants on tax projects, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge.
  • Engagement monitoring - manage, review, and ensure compliance with tax regulations and procedures.
  • Perform technical and/or marketing functions, as required.
  • Build close rapport with clients and relevant authorities, ensuring excellent customer service.
  • Involve in business development, identifying new opportunities and growing the business.
  • Perform any other assignments and tasks from the superior, as deemed appropriate and relevant.

Requirements

  • Minimum degree in Finance/Accounting or any relevant field.
  • Minimum 5-8 years of relevant experience, with at least 2 years at a supervisory level, preferably from a professional services firm environment.
  • Deep understanding of Malaysian Tax regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Strong drive to excel professionally, with a focus on delivering high-quality results.
  • Demonstrated success in adapting to a professional work environment, with excellent communication and people management skills.
  • Team player able to lead in a fast-moving, deadline-driven environment, with a focus on delivering results.
  • Able to provide useful and timely feedback to staff, and keep management informed of progress and issues.
  • Driven to meet client expectations, with a focus on reliability and delivering results.
  • Preferably a full or partial member of any relevant professional bodies.
  • Excellent communication and people management/development skills.
  • Strong accounting and analytical skills.
  • Functional knowledge of Microsoft applications, i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Fluent in English and Bahasa Malaysia, both written and spoken.

Candidates must be resident in Malaysia, or have the right to work in Malaysia.
