We are currently seeking a highly skilled Claims Professional to join our Finance & Accounting team in Malaysian Branch.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement customised claim management solutions, processes and strategies to drive business growth.
- Review and refine claim handling guidelines, including criteria for claim review, to ensure seamless execution.
- Establish strong relationships with loss adjusters and lawyers to gather up-to-date loss information and support claim audit and verification.
- Analyse insurance policies and reinsurance contracts to verify covered losses and facilitate claim recovery.
- Gather proof of loss by reviewing documentation and assembling additional information from external sources.
- Verify claim recoveries and salvages to maximise financial returns.
- Support the loss reserve process, conducting claim audits as needed, which includes interviewing claims and reinsurance teams, assessing claim handling and reserving processes, engaging local experts, negotiating claim settlements, and communicating with underwriters and other departments.
- Use claim handling experience and data to inform underwriting and pricing decisions.
- Maintain accurate records, document claim file activities, and ensure information confidentiality.
- Prepare claim reports for management, compliance, and Hannover Office, adhering to established guidelines.
- Approve, deny or refer claims according to guidelines and authority, ensuring legal compliance and adherence to company policies.
- Provide exceptional client service by understanding client needs and responding to inquiries.
- Assemble documentation for settlement actions and assist in preparing files for lawsuits, trials, subrogation, or commutation.
- Collaborate with technical accounting professionals as a reference contact regarding claims.
- Pursue ad hoc projects, including automation initiatives rolled out by Hannover (Germany) Office, to drive innovation and improvement.
- A university degree or master's in a relevant field such as reinsurance, business, finance, or law.
- Excellent command of English (written and spoken).
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in the insurance or reinsurance industry.
- Familiarity with loss adjusters is an asset.
- In-depth knowledge of reinsurance claim processes.
- Extensive knowledge of insurance-related policies and legislation.
- Superior conflict resolution skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Organisational and time management skills.
- Ability to lead a team.
- Team player with result-oriented, problem-solving skills and willingness to complete/assist tasks beyond job description.
