Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Tax Analyst to join our team at Asia Recruit Sdn Bhd on behalf of Agensi Pekerjaan Asia Recruit Sdn Bhd. As a Senior Tax Analyst, you will be responsible for performing the company's regular tax compliance and tax accounting work for Malaysia, including Corporate Income Tax, VAT, Foreign Contractor's Withholding Tax, and other taxes that may be applicable in the country.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Monthly Closing Processes: Ensure proper recording of taxes payable/refundable, reconciliation of tax filing returns to financial records, and analysis of fluctuations in tax accounts.
  2. Tax Compliance: Facilitate and work with local tax advisors to ensure all direct and indirect tax compliance, Foreign Contractors' Withholding tax, VAT are filed timely and in accordance with local regulations.
  3. Tax Support: Provide support to and work with local tax advisors on tax-related queries/request from Tax Authority.
  4. Tax Calendar: Ensure completed tax filings are updated in the tax calendar.
  5. Tax Payments: Organize and facilitate tax payments to be made timely per deadlines.
  6. Quarterly Review: Quarterly review of direct and indirect tax for potential contingencies and recommendation of accrual for contingencies identified.
  7. ERP System: Coordinate and work with Accounts Payable/Accounts Receivable/General Ledger team to ensure tax entries are recorded correctly upon transaction posting in ERP system.
  8. Tax Code Setup: Assist in tax code set up and maintenance of tax codes in ERP system.
  9. Process Improvement: Participate in Tax Department's process improvement initiatives.
  10. Administrative Tasks: Create Purchase Request for tax fees in ERP system for payment to service providers.
  11. Other Duties: Assist and support the tax department with other assignments and administrative tasks as needed.
Requirements
  1. Education: Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Accounting.
  2. Professional Qualification: Professional qualification such as ACCA, CPA, and CA.
  3. Work Experience: 4 - 7 years of relevant work experience in a Big 4 Tax firm or a corporate income tax department.
  4. Taxation Experience: Experience in taxation in Malaysia including Corporate Income Tax, VAT and Foreign Contractors Withholding Tax returns.
  5. Communication Skills: English fluency in verbal and written communication.
  6. Self-Motivation: Self-motivated.
  7. System Aptitude: Aptitude for learning & utilizing systems.
  8. Independence: Need to be independent and hands-on.
  9. Adaptability: Ability to adapt in a changing work environment.
  10. Analytical Mindset: Good analytical mindset.
  11. Team Player: Team player.
  12. Local Laws Knowledge: Knowledge of local company laws and income tax regulations.
  13. ERP System Knowledge: Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint etc.
  14. GAAP Knowledge: Preferable with local & US GAAP knowledge.
  15. ERP System Knowledge: Knowledgeable in any major ERP systems, i.e., SAP.
  16. Work Location: Candidate must be willing to work in Kulim, Kedah OR Georgetown, Penang.
