About the Role:

We are working with a leading international renewable energy developer to help grow their team in KL, Malaysia. The company is assembling the core members of their team and seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to drive business growth and sustainability through commercial and investment activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support senior management in driving business growth and sustainability through commercial and investment activities.
  • Develop, review, and negotiate key project agreements, including EPC, PPA, Loan, Insurance, and O&M contracts.
  • Oversee financial matters such as cash flow modeling, budgeting, financial due diligence coordination, and ensuring project commercial viability.
  • Manage overall project transactions, including SPA and SHA agreements.
  • Review and negotiate partnership agreements (MoU, JVA, JDA).
  • Conduct project valuation, risk assessment, and partner/off-taker credibility checks.
  • Maintain strong relationships with clients (off-takers) and key stakeholders.
  • Actively participate in reporting processes and ensure transparent communication.
  • Manage investor relations, including preparing for internal investment committees and liaising with external investors.
  • Represent the company in meetings with vendors, partners, co-shareholders, advisers, financiers, and contractors.
  • Provide commercial support across the company's international offices.

Requirements:

  • Resourceful with strong financial acumen and business understanding.
  • Experienced in reviewing legal documents, identifying key commercial terms, and assessing implications.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with minimal supervision.
  • Proactive and self-motivated, with strong leadership skills to drive initiatives.
  • Highly organized, strategic thinker with strong execution and stakeholder management skills.
  • Confident and effective communicator, capable of engaging with diverse audiences across various backgrounds and cultures.
  • Experience in executing and managing deals within Malaysia and the Southeast Asia region.
  • Minimum 5 years of commercial experience, preferably in the power, energy, or infrastructure sector.
  • Experience working across multiple countries is an advantage.
  • Strong analytical and negotiation skills.
  • Fluent in both spoken and written English.
  • Proficiency in Excel-based programming for financial modeling and analysis.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience or strong interest in renewable energy.
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaborate across teams in the APAC region.
  • Business proficiency in an additional Asian language is a plus.
