Key Responsibilities:

  • To deliver high-quality financial reporting services to internal stakeholders, in accordance with established processes and guidelines.
  • To ensure timely and accurate delivery of financial reports, analysis, and recommendations.
  • To support and back up other team members in performing financial tasks as required.

Main Tasks:

Functional Tasks (Inclusive but not limited):

  • To maintain and ensure master data regarding material ledger, inventory valuation, production planning budget, intra-company transfer pricing, cost center accounting, fixed assets, and project accounting are performed accurately and within timelines.
  • To review and analyze financial transactions, identify trends, and provide insights for informed decision-making.
  • To perform month-end closing and year-end closing activities, ensuring accuracy and compliance with BASF group guidelines.
  • To troubleshoot and resolve issues related to financial reporting processes by collaborating with relevant stakeholders.
  • To act as a business partner for internal customers, providing guidance and support on financial matters.

Compliance:

  • To participate in any compliance audits and respond to audit queries.
  • To ensure all work documentation and processes are updated to meet Internal Control Framework requirements.
  • To ensure compliance with BASF guidelines, Financial Reporting Compliance requirements, local regulations, and statutory requirements.

Others:

  • To contribute to the implementation of project initiatives, collaborating with senior managers, regional process experts, and subject matter expert leads.
  • To support Global Finance Transformation (GFT) initiatives in the Business Reporting team.
  • To collaborate with local counterpart teams, service management teams, regional and country controllers, plant personnel, and other finance service work streams.
  • To drive transition and migration projects, supporting the team's strategic plan.
  • To mentor senior analysts and analysts, promoting good practices, teamwork, and a quality-oriented approach.

Service Management:

  • To perform tasks in accordance with the Service Management Framework, providing timely and accurate services.
  • To ensure customer queries are attended and resolved in a responsible and proactive manner.
  • To ensure all tasks are processed within agreed service timelines.

Quality and Continuous Improvement:

  • To identify, recommend, and implement solutions for continuous improvement opportunities, in consultation with senior managers, managers, regional process experts, and subject matter expert leads.
  • To support standardization across regions and globally, focusing on alignment of end-to-end business process areas, systems, and tools.

Knowledge Management:

  • To conduct functional training and contribute to training materials preparation, in accordance with the established training framework.
  • To support the establishment of a knowledge database, documenting work problems encountered and steps for resolution, facilitating continuous learning and knowledge sharing throughout the Business Reporting team.
  • To ensure updates to process documentation as required.
  • To support new and existing team members through proper knowledge transfer, sharing best practices, and maintaining quality through staff transitions.

Professional Guidance / Multiple Reporting Lines:

  • Assist in delegating work and assigning tasks to others in the team, as requested.
  • Assist managers in day-to-day supervisory tasks of the team.
  • Provide guidance and support to designated Business Reporting team members.
  • Assist managers in providing feedback and reinforcement to team members regarding development needs and opportunities, securing resources to support development efforts.
  • Establish good interpersonal relationships by helping team members feel valued, appreciated, and aware of business performance issues.
  • Assume manager's role in the absence of the manager.
  • Follow BASF Group guidelines, accounting, and reporting guidelines.
  • Understand and follow local regulations and statutory requirements.

Frequent Cooperation within BASF Group:

  • Counterparts and/or relevant stakeholders in BASF companies, internal auditors, and other BSSCKL functional teams.
  • Senior managers, managers, analysts, and peer team members.
  • Service Centre management team.
  • Global/Regional Finance Reporting functional units.

Frequent Cooperation outside BASF Group:

  • Work closely with external consultants, auditors, etc.

Degree of Supervision Required in the Job:

  • Work with minimal supervision.

Minimum Education and Qualification Required for the Position:

Education:

  • University degree in finance and accounting or business studies; and/or
  • Chartered or Certified Professional Accountant or equivalent.

Working Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years' experience in finance and accounting functions preferably in Business Reporting. Competent candidates with lesser years of experience are considerable.
  • Experience working in a MNC, shared service center, or Malaysian public listed company will be an advantage.

Technical & Professional Knowledge:

  • Knowledge and understanding of Business Reporting and other accounting functions.
  • Knowledge and understanding of SAP system or other ERP system will be an advantage.
  • Knowledge and experience of MS office tools.
  • Proficiency in English and other languages as required with good communication skills.
