The Junior Legal Counsel position at MRANTI offers a unique opportunity to work with a dynamic team and contribute to the growth and development of our organisation.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct thorough legal research to support the legal team in preparing legal opinions, memos, and briefs.
  2. Review and draft contracts, agreements, and other legal documents to ensure compliance with relevant laws and company policies.
  3. Develop and maintain compliance policies and procedures, and provide guidance to internal stakeholders on legal and regulatory requirements.
  4. Manage litigation matters by drafting pleadings, gathering evidence, and coordinating with external counsel as needed.
  5. Support the legal team in corporate governance matters, including drafting corporate resolutions, maintaining corporate records, and facilitating board meetings.
  6. Identify legal risks and provide recommendations to mitigate potential liabilities.
  7. Organise and maintain legal documents and databases, ensuring accuracy and accessibility for the legal team and other stakeholders.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Law (LL.B) or equivalent from an accredited institution.
  • Prior internship or work experience in a legal setting involving research, contract review, compliance, litigation support, or corporate governance is preferred but not required.
  • Strong legal research and analytical skills, with proficiency in contract drafting, review, and negotiation.
  • Knowledge of corporate governance, compliance, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Familiarity with litigation procedures and legal documentation management.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good organisational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy in legal documentation.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong understanding of legal and regulatory compliance.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive legal matters with integrity.
  • Ability to liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies, courts, and external counsel.
