VINARCO is seeking a seasoned Senior Geologist to spearhead our geological initiatives in Kuala Lumpur.

Key Responsibilities:

The selected candidate will be responsible for leading geological research efforts, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and driving business outcomes.

  • Lead Geological Research: Plan and supervise investigations by geological service contractors or an in-house research team in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Coordinate with various departments (e.g. post-drilled, budget, planning, etc.) to ensure seamless execution of geological studies.
  • Business Outcomes: Drive business outcomes through effective reservoir characterisation, well operations, and CCS project management.
  • Geological Studies: Assist with all geological studies, including core/cutting analysis/studies, etc.
  • Reservoir Characterisation: Update reservoir characterisation for FDP, aid in FDP finalization.
  • Well Operations: Assist with LL-3 well operation and post-drill evaluation.
  • CCS Project: Support all geological studies for the company's CCS project.
  • Data Gathering: Support geological data gathering requirements for the Mitigation and Monitoring Plan for CCS project.
  • Evaluations: Support internal and external evaluations for FDP/FID.
  • Investigations: Plan and supervise investigations by geological service contractors or an in-house research team in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Laboratory Work: Supervise laboratory work.
  • Well Targeting: Execute detailed well targeting, a data acquisition plan, all related programs, and post-drill review.
  • Well Surveillance: Well surveillance, monitoring of exploration, and appraisal wells, including well-sitting if needed.
  • Geological Models: Perform and regularly update geological models to support field development and storage development plans.
  • Basin Analysis: Review Basin Analysis studies and include in reservoir characterisation studies.
  • Prospect Appraisals: Participate in prospect appraisals in geological research.
  • Uncertainties: Identify and quantify geological/subsurface uncertainties that affect the technical and commercial resilience of the projects.
  • Geological Studies: Initiate and oversee geological studies conducted internally or by external contractors.
  • Resource Description: Enhance resource description and reservoir characterisation by integrating subsurface data (logs, cores, and seismic) with the geological understanding of the Southeast Asia region's depositional environment.
  • Mentorship: Supervise, coach, and mentor junior employees.

Requirements:

  • University Degree or higher in Geology.
  • 10 years' experience in Geology or similar fields with knowledge of geological modeling.
  • Knowledge of basin analysis, reservoir characterization, and facies description.
  • Capable of communicating internally and externally with a varied variety of stakeholders from various disciplines.
