About the Role
This pivotal role will be based in Malaysia with a focus on supporting the CFO and management team with timely accurate reports and other information required for business activities critical to the growth strategy. Key responsibilities include owning the end-to-end period-end process for multiple entities, performing detailed balance sheet and profit & loss account reconciliation and analysis, assisting in the preparation of consolidated financial statements and forecasts, preparing responses to external accountants in relation to year end accounts, including tax returns, and maintaining fixed asset registers.
Responsibilities
The Financial Accountant will be responsible for the following tasks:
- Reporting Period End Close & Financial Reporting: Own the end-to-end period-end process for multiple entities and ensure timely preparation of management reports.
- Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable & Bank Reconciliations: Raise and send client invoices, enter supplier invoices, submit invoices for payment approval, prepare and prioritize payment runs, and perform daily bank reconciliations.
- Payroll & Expense Reimbursements: Manage monthly payroll processes across multiple countries, prepare all statutory payroll obligations, review and process employee expense reimbursements, and manage travel bookings for the management team as required.
- Insurance and Indirect Taxes (GST, VAT, state-based taxes): Prepare responses to queries from brokers for annual insurance reviews, prepare company accounts and respond to adviser queries arising during the preparation of GST and VAT returns, liaise with internal and external stakeholders to maintain and strengthen working relationships, coordinate with the Company Secretary to ensure share register and other company details are updated with corporate authorities, collaborate with Commercial Manager to ensure client subscription details are maintained accurately, and manage central finance inbox.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- 4+ years of hands-on experience working within a finance team, managing daily processes as well as preparing reports.
- Experience working in multi-national companies, with exposure to Australia, United States, United Kingdom, and Singapore is preferred.
- Solid financial and statutory knowledge, and experience with key accounting and reporting processes.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Advanced skills using Microsoft Office applications such as Word, PowerPoint with particular emphasis on advanced Excel skills for pivot tables, reports & dashboards.
- Demonstrates a strong sense of ownership by taking responsibility and accountability and takes pride in their work.
Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree in Commerce majoring in finance or accounting and Chartered Accountant or Certified Public Accountant qualification is required.
