We are currently seeking to hire **Lab Assistant to join us on October 2025**to**support both students and teachers in the laboratory and/or classroom work and ensure that all safety standards are upheld at all times.

**Purpose of Role**

**Key Responsibilities**:
As a **Lab Assistant**, they play a vital role in supporting the smooth operation of the school’s Science laboratories. Their responsibilities will include:
**Laboratory Support**
- Preparing and setting up materials, equipment and apparatus for practical lessons and examinations.
- Assisting teachers and students during practical sessions and demonstrations.
- Cleaning, sterilising, and storing laboratory equipment safely.
- Refilling, labelling, and preparing stock solutions, chemicals and reagents.

**Safety & Compliance**
- Ensuring laboratory safety regulations are met at all times.
- Conducting routine safety checks and maintaining first aid and emergency equipment.
- Assisting with safe handling and disposal of chemical and biological waste in line with school and regulatory guidelines.

**Inventory & Administration**
- Maintaining an organised inventory of laboratory materials, chemicals and equipment.
- Carrying out regular stock checks and reporting shortages or maintenance needs.
- Supporting science-related events such as Science Week, exhibitions and STEM competitions.

**Collaboration & School Support**
- Assisting with the organisation of school events, open days and promotional activities when required.
- Supporting cross-departmental projects that involve laboratory resources.
- Performing other duties as assigned by the Line Manager.

- Fully and positively participate in the school’s performance appraisal scheme in order to develop and enhance personal and service performance
- Undertake any other reasonable duties requested/assigned as required by SLT or Line Manager, especially with regard to the school’s administrative function
