A Commis 1 is an entry-level position in a professional kitchen, responsible for assisting senior chefs in the preparation and production of high-quality food. This role involves a variety of tasks, from basic food preparation to assisting with more complex culinary techniques. Key Responsibilities:

- Food Preparation:

- Assisting with the preparation of ingredients, such as chopping, peeling, and cleaning vegetables and meats.
- Marinating and seasoning food items as directed.
- Preparing stocks, sauces, and dressings.
- Portioning and plating food items.
- Kitchen Maintenance:

- Maintaining a clean and organized work area.
- Washing and sanitizing dishes, pots, and pans.
- Assisting with stock rotation and inventory management.
- Order Fulfillment:

- Accurately fulfilling food orders in a timely manner.
- Ensuring the quality and presentation of all dishes.
- Teamwork & Communication:

- Working effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Communicating effectively with chefs and other kitchen staff.
- Following instructions and adhering to kitchen policies and procedures.
- Learning & Development:

- Eagerness to learn new skills and techniques.
- Observing and assisting senior chefs in their duties.
- Participating in training sessions and workshops. Qualifications:

- Experience: 0-1 year of experience in a professional kitchen preferred, but not required.
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Skills:

- Strong knife skills and food handling techniques.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Attention to detail and a focus on quality.
- Physical stamina to stand for long periods and lift heavy objects.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Basic understanding of food safety and sanitation procedures. Physical Demands:

- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy objects.
