Chief Accountant

Be among the first to join the Malaysian branch of a dynamic European fintech, **Nimbura**, bringing cutting-edge financing solutions to retail customers. We are currently looking for Chief Accountant to form a core of our team in Kuala Lumpur (Bangsar South).

**Role Overview**:
You will manage key accounting and reporting activities for our Malaysian operations. You will ensure accurate financial reporting, compliance with local regulations, and alignment with the Group Finance team in Europe. The role requires proficiency in accounting systems, financial reconciliations, and reporting related to consumer finance activities.

**Responsibilities**:

- Perform Record to Report (RTR) processes: monthly, quarterly, and annual closings.
- Prepare journal entries, general ledger reconciliations, and cost/revenue allocations.
- Ensure compliance with Malaysian statutory requirements and Group reporting standards.
- Prepare and file regulatory and tax reports (LHDN, BNM, etc.).
- Prepare bank payments for remittances and daily invoice payments.
- Participate in preparation of monthly management reporting.
- Support internal and external audits, preparing reports and documentation.
- Maintain relationship and coordinate work with banks and payment platforms.
- Coordinate with the Group finance team in Europe for consolidation and financial alignment.
- Proactively identify process improvements to enhance accuracy and efficiency.

Systems Used
- QuickBooks or SQL Accounting (you will have a choice)
- Microsoft Excel (advanced)

**Requirements**:

- **Minimum Qualifications**:_
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- At least 2 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in financial services, payment systems or alike
- Hands-on experience with QuickBooks and/or SQL Accounting Software.
- Strong Excel skills and familiarity with financial reporting tools.
- Good analytical skills and high attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills in English, for interaction with local and international teams.
- **Preferred Qualifications**:_
- Professional certifications (ACCA / CPA / CIMA / CA) are an advantage.
- Experience in consumer lending, fintech, or financial services accounting.
- Background in multinational or shared service environments.
- Familiarity with GAAP / MFRS / IFRS and local tax reporting.
