Authorised Gas Tester

**1. Gas Testing & Atmospheric Monitoring**
- Conduct gas testing in confined spaces, excavation areas, or hazardous work zones to ensure atmospheric conditions are safe before and during work.
- Use calibrated gas detection equipment to measure oxygen levels, flammable gases, and toxic vapours.
- Issue and sign-off gas testing certificates/permits in compliance with industry standards and statutory requirements.
- Continuously monitor and record atmospheric readings during ongoing high-risk activities.

**2. Site Safety Supervision**
- Enforce compliance with safety rules, regulations, and procedures in accordance with OSHA, DOSH, and other applicable laws.
- Conduct daily site safety inspections and identify potential hazards.
- Lead toolbox meetings and safety briefings, especially for confined space and hot work activities.
- Ensure proper PPE usage and adherence to permit-to-work requirements.
- Immediately halt unsafe work and escalate to management when necessary.

**3. Safety Documentation & Reporting**
- Maintain records of gas testing logs, calibration certificates, and confined space entry permits.
- Prepare safety inspection reports, incident/accident reports, and follow-up on corrective actions.
- Assist in the preparation of Safety & Health documentation for audits and inspections.

**4. Emergency Preparedness & Response**
- Participate in emergency drills including confined space rescue and evacuation.
- Ensure emergency equipment such as breathing apparatus, rescue kits, and gas detectors are maintained in good condition.

**5. Coordination & Ad-Hoc Support**
- Coordinate with supervisors, contractors, and safety officers for smooth and safe operations.
- Provide technical and safety support to ongoing site works.
- Perform other duties related to gas testing and safety as assigned by management.

**Qualifications & Experience**
- **Education**: Minimum SPM; Certificate/Diploma in Occupational Safety & Health or related field preferred.
- **Certification**: Valid **Authorised Gas Tester (AGT)** certification from a recognised training provider.
- **Experience**: At least 2 years’ experience in construction, oil & gas, or industrial safety; fresh AGT certificate holders may be considered.
- **Skills**:

- Proficient in using gas detection and monitoring equipment.
- Knowledge of confined space entry procedures and safety legislation.
- Strong observation and reporting skills.

**Special Aspects / Major Challenges**
- Working in potentially hazardous environments such as confined spaces, excavation sites, or areas with flammable/toxic gases.
- Maintaining continuous alertness and accuracy in atmospheric readings to prevent life-threatening incidents.
- Coordinating with multiple teams under tight deadlines while ensuring safety compliance.
- Managing safety enforcement with contractors and workers of varied backgrounds and safety awareness levels.

**Job Type**: Contract
Contract length: 12 months

Pay: From RM3,000.00 per month
